I had an ER C-Section on July 15th...our baby boy is home!
Hello everyone!
I went into labor 10 days early, well...actually 11.
I noticed cramps around 2am...just thought they were cramps, nothing too bad...so I went back to bed...the next morning, I still had cramps, but nothing too bad...I was actually on this site posting pics of the updated master bath!
Well..around 2pm, I knew they were contractions, and they were 3 min. apart (and I was bleeding..yet my MD still didn't think I needed to go to the hospital..but that's another story).
So, I went to the hospital, and told my MD we were going, he said he'd was there.
Well...yes, he was in the hospital, but didn't see me for two hours....when I arrived, I was already 3-4 centimeters dilated, and in excrutiating pain (like I said, about 3 min. apart). Stony Brook couldn't give me any pain relief, the epidural, until my MD saw me...so I had to wait and wait and wait...it was horrible.
I asked if they could page him to just give an ok to give me the epi, since I was so painful and dilating...NOPE
So...eventually he saw me, and I got the epi...that was fantastic! NEver felt anything else, just pressure.
Well...soon after the epi, they notice that the baby's heartrate dropped drastically with each contraction. No more than 5 min. later, the MD said he had to perform an ER C section (after we tried several positions hoping to keep the baby's heart rate up...but didn't work).
at 10:52, Christopher James Rose was born!
THe rest of my experience at Stony Brook was HORRENDOUS!!!
In recovery, I was given NO PAIN MEDS for another 2 hours (since I'm allergic to morphine, the anesthesiologist wanted to give me some something in a PCA pump...well, the nurses couldn't figure out how to start the pump for 2 hours...so meanwhile I'm contracting because I'm still on potossin to stop the bleeding...and I have no pain relief...it was horrible!!!!!)
When the PCA was given to me, the anesthesiologist injected some med (my husband knows which one), and suddenly I couldn't breath and I couldn't see. It was short, but scary.
THen I had some horrible nurses...when I asked how to diaper the baby, she looked at me and my husband and said, "It's not rocket science".
I'm just glad to be home!!!

What a beautiful baby. I am so sorry you had such a horrible experience. It always makes me so sad when what should be such a beatiful experience for a new mom gets ruined by others.

First of all , congrats on your son! He is just beautiful!!
I'm so sorry about your awful experience at the hospital - it's just so upsetting to see a beautiful time in your life ruined by incompetance and uncaring health professionals. I'm glad in the end all is well with you and the baby though - that is the important thing!
