How long did you wait to tell family and friends you were pregnant?

I told some of my close friends and family, even though I am only 1 mo. along. But one of my friends was like "don't tell anyone until your 3 mo. incase something happens." That kind of of upset me b/c I was like if something happens (if I miscarry) than I will be extremely upset, but even if they didn't know I was pregnant I would tell them anyone b/c I would need their support. I am sooo excited, how do you not want to tell people???? And chances are everything will work out fine.

Did anyone else feel people were negative when they first told people they were pregnant? We even got "geez, you guys have only been married a month". Ok, sooooooooo............ Some people really annoy me!

With Sarah we waited unitl the doctor confirmed it and told family, so I guess it was about 6 weeks. I waited until about 14 weeks to tell at work.

This time I was more nervous so I only told my mom right away and the rest of the famiy at 10 weeks.

we didnt tell our family/firends until our first sono which was aorund 7 weeks . however i told a few friends and my sister ( BUT DH didnt know that LOL LOL)

I agree with you. I felt that if anything did happen the people I shared our happy news with would be the same ones that would support us. I waited till the first sono to tell other people.

With Alex I told immediate family at 7 weeks and friends at 3 months.

I told my mom, MIL and brother after the beta tests confirmed our BFP!

We told just our closests friends (his BF and mine) after the first sono when we saw the heartbeat.

We told everyone else (other friends and family) after the first trimester.

We told my mom at 6 weeks and everyone else at 8 weeks. You have to tell everyone when YOU want to!! i hate the whole 3 month "rule". To me i would want my family to know in case something bad happened to have all of their support.

I didn't wait at all. I told everyone right away. Everyone knew we were TTCing and having trouble so when we got a nice dark BFP and the BFP beta...I told everyone, I just had a gut feeling it was a sticky baby...and she was...she's sitting with my husband on the couch next to me

We told only immediate family the day after I tested. I couldn't wait.
Then we told everyone else right after my 1st week appointment.
I would not have been able to wait the 12 weeks. Im with you on the whole you would need them for support. That's exaclty how I felt.

Some people are really upsetting me with telling me statistics and all this other crap. I know I am very early, but telling me I could miscarry and I shouldnt tell anyone makes me feel bad. I know there is a chance, there is a chance a person can miscarry at any time. But why shouldnt I be able to tell people being I am so excited???? Some people are making me feel bad and like I jinxed myself. Now i am really nervous and upset about this and am afriad something is going to happen b/c I opened my big mouth. I know it is silly, but geez....can't anyone ever be happy for ya?

you aren't going to jinx a thing. If God forbid something did happen, you would probably want your family's support.

Parents right away about 6 weeks at the time. Friends at 16 weeks.

Some people have no couth. For some reason, people think they can say what they want when we're pg. I felt very much the same way as you but I did have a m/c last year. I told most of my family and friends this time early on b/c if God forbid something happened again...I would most definitely need their shoulders to cry on. You do what you feel is right. Good luck!

We told family and very close friends right away. Others we told after 12 weeks

i'm at 8 weeks now, we haven't told anyone yet. One ofmy best friends guessed and i told her but other then that no one. we are waiting for 12 weeks.

We told immediate family right away but its bc we did IVF so they all were awaiting the results. We actually just told some extended family yesterday and several friends. I was 8 weeks yesterday..I figure now I will gradually tell people.

Ideally I wanted to wait until I was 12 weeks but I can't keep such a good secret that long. People were also wondering why I haven't had drink, dyed my hair, etc. The jig is up I guess

Its all really up to you and when you feel comfortable enough to do so....

We told everyone pretty soon. I had to wait to tell my parents because they were in Aruba when we found out. We told his parents the night we tested

We told our parents and siblings right away, sadly my 1st pg miscarried a week after i told them and I was very happy no one else knew, cause I didn't want to deal with Un-telling people.

My second pg with DD, we told them right away again, but didn't tell anyone else until 12 weeks.

Believe it was hard to keep, even harder for our parents, but we had to do it that way for us.
