Actually it is kind of like that ...
The child (and a teen IS a CHILD) is sedated, instruments are entered into the body cavity, there is bleeding and blood involved, there is recooperations periods, there could be complications - it is a medical procedure .... I think people tend to forget that part of it. It's not like getting your nails done at the salon, it's a medical procedure.

its a medical procedure, obvisouly.... but its not like she wants to enhance her looks.
no parent should have to give permission for her to have an abortion, while i DO think a parents permission should be needed to get breast impalnts.

I'm torn on this issue. As a parent, I want to know what medical procedures are being done on my child -and do not want to jeopardize my right to know that by allowing legislation to differentiate between medical procedure & an abortion. I think they are one & the same.
As we all do, I want my daughter to have access to the best health care. Given the chance that she would consider anything otherwise, I have to err on the side of NO parental consent required.
Yes in a perfect world, I'd have the relationship with my daughter where she'd come to me. However even when you have the best relationship, there are somethings your kid just can't talk to you about - and their failures are one of them. I think this is where I hope the godmother or her aunts will step in. They are there to advise my children as I would want them advised without the worry of me finding out.
I would even suggest "adult consent" -so anyone over 18 can sign for them. While I worry I'm going to have a 16 year old looking for an abortion - I've even more petrified of a 12 or 13 year old having one.

First, I want to say I canrelate to both sides of this debate..
I got pregnant and had my son out of wedlock, however I was NOT a minor. Yes, I was scared to tell my parents because of all the hopes and dreams a parent has for their child, becoming a mother young isn't usually on the top of their list.
Now that I have my son, and our second on the way, relating to the parents should know portion-- Yes I believe the parents should be aware of what their children are doing. Aside from the fact that a parent should always know whats going on with their children, in school, with friends and yes even with sex- a parent should know if their MINOR is having unprotected sex, and having an abortion, which may hinder their chances of (a) ever being able to conceive again, (b) their PHYSICAL and MENTAL well being, and (c) their self esteem for the rest of their lives.
Unless there is documented proof that telling the legal guardian or parent will impose danger to that child, the parent should be made aware of what is going on. JMO

IMO it is the same.
You can't go by "her body her choice"
sorry not for a minor.
Why does a parent need to be involved in anything by that theory?

What do you think about the case before the Supreme Court requiring minors to obtain parental consent 48 hours in advance before getting an abortion.

Wisconsin (can be parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or sibling over the age of 25)
Sibling... definitely NOT. Parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle OK.

hmmm. This has me thinking.
So, if we can't prove that a parent has been notified and there is no abortion and the baby is then born...the (original) parent forced his or her child to have a baby. Is the original parent going to be required to nuture and provide for his or her grandchild?
What about the flip side? What if the parent wants to require his or her daugther to terminate a pregnancy? Should that be allowed too?

you're saying that parental permission SHOULD be required for plastic surgery, but NOT for an abortion?????????
this logic is completely absurd to me!!

of course an abortion can't wait..but imo, if parental consent is REQUIRED to even administer aspirin at schools, then how is consent for a medical procedure any different?

I don't agree with the aspirin rule (except for children who cannot communicate that they may have an allergy or medical condition that would be affected by aspirin)
