does it count if another driver hits the animal 1st...then it goes accross Sunrise highway and hits the driver side front corner panel?

when I was 18 and driving at night through Delaware I hit a pack of wild dogs that I swear ran at my car.

One time a bird flew directly into our winshield and totally smashed itself.

No....so far no animals have been harmed while I am driving

Oh goodness....

I ran over a turtle (at least I think it was a turtle) - by the time i realized it was there it was too late.

but the worst...

My first day of my first real job out of college...I left for work at 6:15 a.m. - it was August - and I noticed a deer in the road, so I slowed down and the deer walked off the road. So I started continue and as I adjusted my eyes to the road again another deer jumped into the road and I smaked right into it - it hit the roof and then bounced on the hood and into the road and I head this terrible SCREECHING from it. The poor thing was crying. I started crying the noise was terrible. So I called my father (it was his car) and told him I had hit a deer. He told me to continue on and he would drive up to inspect the scene. Well he called me about 5 minutes later to tell me there was no deer in the road or on the side of the road. So I think I probably had injured the deer somewhat but didn't kill it, and it was probably just freaked out by what happened.

That night and the few days I couldn't go that way to/from work. And when I did I was paranoied!!!

Yes...it was awful. I was about 19 and I was going to work on a Sunday morning. A cat ran right in front of my car. I slammed on the brakes but it was too late.

yes a bird. it was so sad. i saw it fly after i hit it. when i came back that same way later on i saw feathers on the ground and a cat near by... i dont want to think about what happened

I hit a racoon one night driving home in New Hyde Park. It was dark and it ran right into my bumper. It took part of it off but my dad ducktaped it back on. My stepsister has he car now and the bumper is still ducktaped.

I flattened a squirrel. It ran in the road and I had my niece in the car. She was in the back with a seatbelt on, but I still wasn't going to slam on the brakes with her in the car. If I were alone, I would have hit the brakes.

I don't drive but 3 weeks ago while I was in the passenger seat my husband hit and killed a deer. It was so sad. First the deer's friend ran across the road so we were going only about 30 mph and then the other one came running across and we hit her. We were in an SUV and I saw right into her eyes .

Yes I was student teaching and a squirrel ran across the road. Of course, of the long line of cars slowly driving to get into the school parking lot, whose car does it choose to go in front of? Then the other day, during lunch, my co-worker and I were driving to the bagel place when a pigeon is struck by the van in front of us, it regains its bearings and then I see it try to fly away, but it's low, like grill level of my car, so I decide to straddle it. I have no idea what happened to it. It wasn't under my car and it wasn't on the road, but I never saw it fly out from under my car. Let's just say jury's still out on that one.

i am still extremely bothered and upset about this but i hit and killed and dog about 10 years ago. the poor thing raced out from the bushes in front of my car and i had NO time to stop. the husband, wife and older son were outside at the time and witnessed the entire thing. i was SO upset and crying hysterically. they were actually comforting me. if the accident was bad enough they asked me to move the car so that they could get the dog (son had brought out a wheel barrow). i asked if he could move it as i was still really shaken up. the man was SO nice and offered to drive me home. i managed to drive myself but he insisted that i called him when i got home to make sure i arrived safely. he even offered to pay for the damage to my car.

I almost ran over a bird, then at the last second it decided to jump up and fly away right into my car - pretty sure it died.

No, luckily. My mom hit a raccoon while I was in the car and my dad hit a cat while I was in the car though

I ran over a mouse about 10 years ago. It was about 1 am the day after Thanksgiving and the roads were empty. I was on the Horace Harding and I saw it too late. I can still hear the pop sound it made as I went over it. while not an animal, it still haunts me that I ran over something.

There are lots of deer where I live, unfortunately I think it's inevitable. I've already had a few near misses- they run right out into the road. It's unnerving.

Squirrel.. it ran under my car as I passed it and got it with my rear tire. I was very upset about it.

I was probably around 18... I was driving home, very late at night and a cat ran into the road like a bat out of hell - right under my tires. I didn't even have a second to react. I felt and heard the bump. I went home and woke my mom up, I was hysterical crying
