About 15 miles each way.
Average time is about 25 minutes but I do take the Southern State so you never know.

About 25 miles. With this summer traffic it's been taking me about 40/45 minutes. Once September hits it'll take me 1 hour. I'd love a 15/20 minute commute but all the hospitals out here are small so I don't really have the opportunity unless I make a change.

I've had all types of commutes...there is a toss between my two worst commutes:
Coram to Great Neck
Farmingdale to Newark (by train.. 2 1//2 hours each way)
Now I live 12 miles from work and it takes about 20-25 minutes on the local roads

Door to door, my commute is 45 minutes - 25-30 minute LIRR ride plus 5-10 minute walks at both ends.
I wouldn't mind a longer train ride but I wouldn't want to have to get on the subway at Penn.

40 mins-- walking and the Path train. I am used to either a 10 min walk, or a 20 min subway-- so, I would prefer something shorter-- but I know that this is still good.

Door to Door, about 1.5 hours each way. I live in Westchester and commute into midtown Manhattan
I drive to the train station (about 10 mins). Then I take Metro North to Grand Central and walk 10 blocks to my office

I live in Huntington and work on the Upper East Side - about an hour and 45 minutes each way between the train, subways and walking. It's bearable for a few years - but not in the long run. Having lived on LI my whole life, I think I've just gotten accustomed to accepting a horrendous commute as the price you pay for living on LI.
To add - we're likely moving further east in a few years once DH gets transferred to the Riverhead area (we'll move east of Riverhead). At that point, no more NYC commuting for me....time for a enw job.

Will start a new job on Tuesday. It will be 12 minutes door to door.
When I worked in the city it was almost two hours door to door, so I am extremely excited for Tuesday to come.

my last job- was about 25 minutes - for a 15 minute drive
who knows what my new job will be - I am interviewing all over
right now- it's 10 seconds- I wake up and go to the computer- it's great

My commute is about an hour door to door which i dont mind. i could probably go up to an hour and 15 door to door.
But this is because i take the train. If I had to drive i think i could handle 45 minutes door to door tops.

I work from home so my commute is about 2 minutes to get downstairs to my office. SOrry, I am no help.
DH works in Manhattan and his commute is 1 hour door to door IF he gets the express train.

My DH has a 1 hour and 20 minute commute one way daily. This is one of the reasons we have just started to contemplate moving OOS (see Home board).

40 minutes with light traffic. I drive to work now.....I used to commute to NYC from NJ so a 40 min drive is fine by me

35 minutes for me - but DH and I commute together, so we use the HOV lane. That doesn't include Friday Hampton traffic, then it's an hour.
