Re: Question for parents who have had medical scares with their children

Kathy I am so sorry you are dealing with this

I just put on my brave face and refused to beleive that anything would be that bad. I really leamed on my husband and knew that everything would be okay, no matter what road it took to get there. At times I was conformting my mother who was more upset then I was at times, because I knew in my heart he would be fine, and I was right my son i s happy healthy 13 month boy in perfect health.

I also knew that I was getting him the best medical care, so that helped alot also.

Good Luck!!!!!!

Re: Question for parents who have had medical scares with their children

I gave birth at 29 weeks and one of my girls were 2lb 12oz and the other 3lb 2oz they were on resperaters and all sorts of tubes and had to be in the NICU for 2 1/2 months. How did I deal...Well you have no choice. All you want is the best for your babies so i made sure i was completely involved in their care and I spent 2 1/2 months of my life living and breathing the NICU. It was hard but gave me incredible joy being hands on and i think thats what got me through it. Be involved and be strong, have your break-downs but pick yourself back up and move forward.

Re: Question for parents who have had medical scares with their children

I had a week of being terribly scared when Sydney was 2 weeks old and in the PICU. They were doing all sorts of tests and it took so long for the results. and all I could do was cry and try to think and do other things and lean on my family and friends for support.

Re: Question for parents who have had medical scares with their children

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon just try and find lots of support if it's through your family, friends or support groups. I went through a rough time (not to compare to yours) but for almost my entire pregnancy the doctors where telling me there was an 80% chance I would lose the baby or their would be something seriously wrong if she was born. What got me through it was talking about all the possibilities, educating myself on this paticular disorder, and leaning on my family & friends.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I hope everything is ok! Your in my thoughts! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I just try to remember that most of what we worry about turns out to be nothing. I would also cry, get it out, talk to other moms and pray.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I hope everything works out ok.

We had to go through some testing to diagnosis and rule out some conditions which was very stressful, but I found that researching and relying on faith got us through it. And giving DD every ounce I love I had to give!
