I'm curious to know if your MIL feels bad....does she realize that she really could have harmed her grandchild???? Or is she oblivious (sp?)?
He spoke to her when it first happened because I was so blown away, I was nearly speechless. From what he said, she did "feel" bad, but it doesn't excuse the fact that she should have "checked" with us if the content looked questionable. We're a phone call away.
Honestly, I question whether it was an oooops or not (based on our history).

 me personally I wouldnt let her watch her for a long while. and then only supervised, till I felt secure with the situationa dn section off the refrigerator and say anything on this shelf and this shelf alons amber cna eat or drink Doing the same wiht bedroom too. Only these things she can play with when I am not home. something along those lines

I can't believe she would do something like that but I understand where your coming from cuz my MIL is the same way she has my daughter for a few days and I have given her instructions on what to feed marissa and things like that and when I talk to her she has not done afew things that I had told her to do she jsut says I raised 10 kids and I know what I am doing I told my FH and had himm call her and he told her that you raised 10 kids and the youngest one being in his 20's so things have change

THis whole thing is just nuts, even if she says she wont give her alcohol anymore, how do you know when you are not there? Unreal
I am so surprised she would put this in an infants bottle, bad enough my PED tells me juice has no nutritional value so if I really want to give Samantha apple or pear juice to water it down which I do a lot, I cant imagine straight liquor

She said it was an accident because the bottle said "lemonade" but seriously, there was Gerber juice, Juicy Juice and even those little (not good for you) punch bottles at the front of the fridge. She seriously had to move the beers out of the way to reach for it. That's why I'm not buying it. I'd rather have my kid drinking Kool Aid than booze! (although we don't give her that either). Now she has diaper rash because the acid is coming through...something else I can thank her for!!

I am sorry I don't buy it either that she didn't realize what she was giving amber
why would you go searching through the fridge if there are juices and things in front of your face plus why would you give a baby lemonade in the first place

Maybe she wanted her to have a good nap! I'm sorry but I don't trust her, even if it were an innocent mistake. I don't blame you for feeling the way you do and if your husband can't deal with that's his problem! God forbid she were to make another silly mistake and the outcome was bad for precious, helpless baby you would never forgive yourself. Trust your motherly instincts!!! Only supervised visits until she regains your trust, if she ever does.

I'm so glad Amber is ok. I'm with you 100%. your MIL was otally irresponsible. Anyone would understand why you wouldn't want her watching the baby alone. Honestly, if you don't know what something is (which obviously she didn't), wouldn't you LOOK at it before giving it to a baby? I don't know that there's a whole lot I would feed to a baby that comes ina GLASS BOTTLE
