the daily news said Paris got rid of her dog Tinkerbell.
whats wrong with these celebrities tossing their pets out like their a materialisic object?
were chihuahuas just sooo last season?

In a shocking scandal that would not be news any other month but August — when frankly nothing else is going on — Paris Hilton has split with her teacup Chihuahua, Tinkerbell.
The miniature mutt has been callously replaced with a smaller version called Bambi.
"[Paris] only likes them when they're very small, and Tinkerbell got too big," a pal told New York magazine.
The former A-list animal companion has been
sent to live with Hilton's mother, Kathy.
Tinkerbell made world headlines last summer when Hilton was photographed distributing lost-dog posters around West Hollywood, only to be reminded she had left the pup with her grandmother.
While comparable canines usually cost between $2,000 and $3,000, Tinkerbell's bloodline commands upwards of $10,000.
A rep for Tink's breeder, Texas Teacups, explains: "Tinkerbell is at the larger end of the teacups. Usually, they won't go over 31/2 pounds, but if you fix them or feed them junk. ..."
Paris' fiancé, Paris Latsis, should take note.
ETA: Bullshyt. As we all know there is NO such thing as a "teacup" chihuahua, BUT.... $10, 000? thats sooo not true! Not to mention her "breedeR" is really a puppymiller backyardbreeder.

Hello. I read your article today about Paris Hilton ditching her Chihuahua Tinkerbell. The article really made me upset, not just that she is shallow and treats her dog like last seasons Manolo Blahniks, but also to the article information itself.
First and foremost, there is NO such thing as a "teacup" dog. It is used as a gimmick. The Chihuahua standard calls for 2-6lbs. There is ONLY a standard size, no "teacup" or "miniature" or what have you. Just because Paris Hilton is ignorant enough to not have researched the breed, I would have at least expected a reporter writing about teh breed to have done at least alittle research on it.
Secondly, the article basicly is advertising Texas Teacups, where Miss Hilton acquired her dog from, when truly Texas Teacups is not a reputable breeder by ANY means at all. It is completly run by backyard breeders. They do not show their dogs, and are basically just in it for the money, NOT to better the standard. Its just a shame because I know from that one little article alone Texas Teacups will be recieving TONS of business now and she is truly an unethical "breeder".
Lastly, I have no idea where the reporter did their "research" on comparing Chihuahua prices, but they could not have been more wrong! They said usually comparable Chis would cost $2000 -$3000, but Tinkereblls lines cost up to $10,000! I am sorry but that is SOOO wrong its not even funny. I am sure some fools would pay that price for a Chi, but they are obviously uneducated if they do. For a Chihuahua that size, ONLY if it were show it could POSSIBLY cost $3000 tops. Maybe at a pet shop you can see a Chihuahua for a couple of thousand dollars, but these dogs are from puppymills and once again, only uneducated people buy fomr pet shops, so they would have no idea how much to spend anyway.
I am sorry and do not by any means wish to come off rude, I just truly have a love for the breed and it saddens me to see articles like this. The story itself is sad enough, then I see all of these false statements. It makes me sick that people like Paris Hilton will just throw away their dog like that becuase they are "over" it. And that is just what is happening now with thousands of Chihuahuas. Niave, impressionable girls look up to this woman for some reason and get a Chihuahua and then dump it at a shelter or rescue because it is too much work or because it is over or whatnot.
Sorry for my vent!!! I think it would really be awesome if you guys did a story on puppymills!!!!!! Now THAT would really open up peoples' eyes to the horrors behind petshops and backyard breeders such as 'TexasTeacups' and 'Wizard of Claws'.

As I am sitting here crying about our dog who just passed away today, she is throwing her dog to the curb?!?!?!?! What an a s s !!!!!!!!!!

i'm not a dog person, but i've had cats all my life and we've NEVER gotten rid of one. they are a lifetime commitment and it doesn't surprise me that paris hilton can't take care of her pet for more then a few weeks w/o getting rid of it. more reason for me not to like her

Umm I wouldn't call her sending it to live with her mother kicking it to the curb...  It's certainly not sentencing it to death, which plenty of people do when they are sick of them.

It's wrong.
She's so shallow I'm actually surprised she didn't auction the poor thing off to one of her fans.
Even though the dog is living with her mom it's still the principle of the act. Her mom may have offered to take the dog in. If she hadn't who knows where the dog would be.
People don't understand that a pet is as much of a commitment as a child. You need to spend time with them, educate them, take care of all of their needs and be ready for a lifelong commitment.

If her mother didnt take the dog....the dog would have been kicked to the curb. In whatever sense you want to take it, giving it away, to a shelter, selling it, whichever...theres no reason for HER to be getting rid of it. Its a "fashion statement" for her and it makes me sick!

friggin paris...she should worry more about wearing underwear when she gets in & out of her SUV & less about her dog that got *too big*
