How long did you ladies wait to take your baby out?
The farthest I've gone is next door to my mom's with DS. Doctor said I can take him for a 15 minute walk around the block.
But I was just wondering when you ladies actually took your babies out. For example to the park, mall, supermarket, parties, friends and families houses...
I'm going stir crazy! I want to take him out. I wanted to do Fourth of July pictures on tuesday cuz that's when DS turns 1 month old. Errrrrr!
Doc said I can't take him anywhere for 6-8 weeks. I don't think I am waiting 8 weeks. 6 might be the max for me.

I waited 6 weeks. The only time he went out was for his 4 day old check up and then his 6 week one.

My doc told me that I should not take DD anywhere (other than to see family or a short walk) until she got her 6-week shot. I didn't want to risk anything so I listened to him.
Maybe you could go for a ride in the car with him. I know it feels like torture to stay inside on such nice days but it's for the benefit of your baby.

I agree with you all. I am going to wait 6 weeks and I was going to take the baby to a photographer that's local. It's not a mall. It's a studio but now i'm doubting that. I'll ask the doctor see what he says. Worse he can say is that it's not a good idea, but i'll try.
Otherwise I will wait the 6 weeks. I just feel like i've been locked up in jail or something. When I went to my OBGYN for a check up DH told me to call him so he can pick me up but I said "please let me walk home" It felt great. I cannot believe a little walk like that was exciting for me! In my old life before the baby I would have had DH come pick up my lazy ***...LOL Now I wanted to walk. It's amazing how I feel that I have this whole new life where even mailing something at a mailbox is exciting, anything that gets me out of the house. Little things like this never excited me before but they do now...So strange...

PED said I can take her out pretty much whenever i was comfy to do so.
She was out at a week and half old. We went out to breakfast at 2 weeks old, target, grocery shopping, went for walks.
There's no way i could stay couped up for 6-8 weeks!

DO what you feel is best, you cant ask your Dr every little thing, ask your mom, our moms with the old fashioned advice have the best advice sometimes (I said sometimes  )
get the kid out, get some fresh air !

Same here. I've taken him to grandma's house, around the park, to shopping areas, to the bank, to BRU, and he's doing fine. As long as no one touches him, or sick people don't get near him, I'm sure he'll be fine.

I went out right away. I took Ryan to the store after he was about 1 week. He was fine, I kept him away from people.

Im having the same debate with myself :) it seems every dr has something diff to say regarding this. I have a 2 1/2 week old - dr told me yesterday that families houses are ok - walks in park and such are fine - he said even a run in and out of the store is fine but to stay away from heavy populated place (ie:the mall). limit who picks the baby up etc.
then I talk to other friends and my sil's and their drs said diff things! so confusing.

we've already been out and she's only 5 days old. We went to the ped on Tuesday, and then stopped at Target on the way home. Yesterday we visited the grandparents and had a little stroll.
We may make a short trip to the beach this weekend.

We took our baby to family after 4-5 weeks.
I started going for walks in the neighborhood at about 8 weeks and stores soon after that.

The most important thing is to limit who touches him. You have to be on high alert in stores if strangers try to touch him. Especially his hands which go right in his mouth

We took Ava out tonight to Babies R Us and then we decided to get crazy with ourselves and try going out to dinner with her and our friends. We put her in the corner in her carseat and no one went near her, and she slept the whole time. I'm a little freaked out that we did that, but I NEEDED to get out!

We took Kerri out to the mall at 3 weeks, stores even before that...and have been on the do ever since. We just make sure no one touches her

For the first two weeks, he only went to the doctor's. Luckily my mom stayed with us for that time so she would stay with him when I went out. After that he went everywhere, I just covered him up and didn't let anyone touch him.

We waited about 6 weeks because the Dr said if she got a fever then tha's an automatic trip to the ER for a spinal to see about meningitis so I took no chances... I did go to my parents and to Babies r us in the daytime when no one was around but it is true just don't let anyone touch the baby and keep washing your hands when you can and as soon as you come home before picking them up... It's just common sense that's all!!

4 days I think. We went to look at houses and to the grocery store. At 4 weeks I think I started going to playgroups with my friends.

I was bad... I took her for a walk at two weeks, but at 3 weeks, my sister gave birth and I did a lot of running around with Juliette to get things done for her. So I would say 4 weeks....I took her to my mothers, grandmothers and aunts house, and my sister needed stuf from BRU so I ran in to there one day with her.
