Kind of a sick story! Sorry a little gross also...
My sister in law was telling me about her lesbian friends...
They wanted children and decided to get prego themselves...NOT sure if this is even possible...but they told her that they took a turkey baister (sp?) and inserted the sperm (donated by a friend) themselves!
She is now prego!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This kinds sounds like an urban legend to me...but is that even possible!!

that sounds like urban legend to me!! Did they have the guy do it the deed in the baster right before they inserted it?
Sperm doesn't survive that long when it hits the open air, it needs a very moist, warm, sperm friendly environment to survive.

Do any of you remember that custody case a few months back where the woman would perform oral sex and save it to be inserted later? She ended up getting pregnant and then sued for child support. It was reported on CNN and Court TV.

At my son's daycare last year there was a boy there and his parents were Lesbians. They told the teacher there that they used a turkey baster to get PG using the non PG women's brother's sperm! Talk about gross! Not that they're lesbians (none of my business) but because they used their brother's sperm!   If I was a Lesbian, I would of used donor sperm!

It happens all the time. My best friends are gay men :) I hear the stories ...and have met a few lesbian moms.
There are kits (medically approved) to do insemination at home, it's very similiar to the turkey baster method.
Semen is fine up to about an hour in a cup.
When you get IUI done, you have an hour to bring the sample to the clinic. Once the sperm is washed, it's life span is actually several hours long.

I actually don't find this "gross". Many times, relatives or close friends offer to be egg donors for women who don't produce their own eggs. The same goes for sperm. It's not like sister and brother conceived the child....
A lot of people are not comfortable with anonymous sperm donors. JMI

It doesnt shock you a bit that a trained professional would take something unsterile and random and put it up someone and insert sperm? You honestly see nothing that would make your head tilt about this?

no, and being in the health field I dont- It was new- sterile and this was her chance to get PG so she went with it. Hell I would do the same thing! Its not like she used it for thanksgiving and just grabbed the first thing she saw when she knew she was gonna O. and listen this is gross but I have heard of a lot of unsterile things that kids do put up there-( my moms an RN , I hear it all) so no this does not surprise me.
edited to say this was also 6 yrs ago. with hippa and all Im sure things have changed, but again it would not surprise me.
Deb I forgot to add it also took her almost 7 yrs to get PG too, at that point I think anything goes and along with prayer you just do anyting humanly possible even if "ethics" are compromised.

That's funny ? That to me is quite offensive ....why would someone make a joke about the conception of a child? It's the love people have for their children not 'how they were conceived'.
