If you had to pick... which one would you choose?

A huge beautiful house with a lot of land in another state

or

a shack in NY?

I would go to another state in a heartbeat while DH wants to stay put!

oh, I really wanted a huge beautiful house with a lot of land in PA, but DH has too many bills that need a NY salary

For me, it would be out of state but DH would never leave NY.

i would stay here with my family. most people who have bought a shack here in NY COULD have gotten a big beautiful house somewhere else!

in my opinion, a bigger house couldnt replace the roots that i have here. if everyone came with me, that may change my mind!

Depends alot on the state!! DH and I have discussed this often. At first I thought I would never move out of NY but now, with the way the cost of living is here and property taxes, prices of homes, etc -- FL is looking really good.

But I could never move to a rural area in like, North Carolina (where our inlaws live and there is a FARM at the end of their block)... I need to be near the water and a big city.

The only place dh would consider moving to is Florida.

If the day comes where both sets of parents are gone, I would/could easily leave NY and buy a nice home out of state (though it would depend on the state, I am a bit picky like that)

But until that happens (which I hope NEVER does ) I would live in NY forever ... even if that meant a shack

would never leave NY - i would stay renting before I moved into a shack that I own.

Neither- A really nice rental or coop in NY would be my choice, since I will never live in a shack just to say I own a house and I am grounded here since we would never move far away from Brian's son.

I definitely want to stay in the northeast, but am totally open to upstate NY, NJ, CT, or parts of PA. Within driving distance of family. I didn't grow up here and don't really want to raise kids on LI, at least in the areas we could afford.

I'm torn on one hand I would love to move out of state to a nice home and a more relaxed way of living but I think I would be extremely lonely w/out my friends and family.

I'd probably say shack- but then again- I grew up in a 1 bedroom apartment.

We had that choice to buy a HUGE house out of state or a 3 bedroom house here in NY- we stayed right here in NY- Plus I could NEVER leave my family and lets say something happens where we just couldnt physically make it here for some reason then I would prob go to PA- even though I hate the cold- so that I wasnt too far from my family. My SIL did this- she moved to florida to have the big house instead of an apartment here in NY and she calls us everyday about 5 times a day b/c she is LONELY- no family there and made some friends from her sons school but not the same!
