So I just got back from the vet. She said that she has never seen a vulva that swolen before.
She also said that it could be one of two things - either a urinary tract infection (which I am praying for) OR - it could be that she is in heat.
The doctor said that it is possible that when they opened Molly up and spayed her - with everything that happened with the kidney - they could have been so freaked out that they left this Stump inside of her. This stump gives off estrogen and hormones and would cause her to go into heat.
They put her on antibiotics so we'll see what happens. The problem with that is - if the vulva swelling goes down - it may be because she is coming out of heat. So we have to wait and see if this happens again in 6 months.
I don't know if I got all of the terminolgy right because it was alot of info to take in. I just hope that it's just a urinary tract infection.
The moral of this story: DO NOT GO TO EAST MEADOW ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!!

I am going to be chanting that all day long.
There is no blood or discharge which is good. The doctor brought another one of the vets in and he also said "I have NEVER seen a Vulva this big before"
It is really swollen.

You know, one of the articles I read mentioned a UTI, but you didn't mention any kind of discharge, so I didn't bother to suggest that. I was actually in the midst of typing it and then decided it might scare you so I didn't...
The thing that makes me think it migh tbe a UTI is that the vulva is unusually swollen. If a dog was just in heat, I don't think the vets would be so surprised by the size of her vuvlva. I am thinking UTI.
Is she straining to pee?

She isn't straining to pee at all. They said that this is the most swollen vulva they have ever seen -- even with UTIs and dogs in Heat.
