My birth story and some pics :)
Well, my labor story is quite different from that of Ava's - I am honestly thrilled with the way everything went and worked out. As you all know I was supposed to be induced on Monday. However, on Wednesday I woke up feeling lousy but that was nothing new. The contractions were really irregular but slightly more painful. I just had this wierd feeling - I didn't think I was in labor but I was scared enough to call the doc's office. They told me to come in so I did - thank goodness DH was home! So we go to the doc's office and they tell me just to go straight next door to St. Catherines where my favorite doc in the practice, Dr. Paone was on call and that he'd examine me. So now here I am standing in labor and delivery FREAKING out and they bring me to the same room I gave birth to Ava in!!!! So they make me change into a gown and have Neil check me in *just in case*. So the doc comes in and examines me and says you're now 3-4 cm (I was 1-2 on Monday) and contracting regularly and you're not going anywhere. I totally freaked out and it hit me that I was having a baby and that I didn't have anything with me and my house was left in a state of complete disorder (yes, only women worry about this LOL).
So my mom stayed with me while Neil took Ava back to the house and to get my stuff. While he was gone the doc broke my water and we waited for my bloodwork to come back so I could get the epi early on. About 45 minutes labor the fantastic, wonderful epidural dude came down and I swear I could have kissed him LOL. I'm glad I got it early on b/c administering it was much easier and I was relaxed. So then it was just a waiting game. We all hung out with the doc, chatted, joked around and around 6:00 I could see that Neil and my mom were starving so I sent them to get something to eat and the doc said it would be another hour before I was ready. Welllllllllllllllllllll about 15 minutes labor I asked the nurse why I had this wild pressure in the front of my stomach and she goes let me get the doctor. He comes in, examines me and starts laughing. He goes "we need to page Neil and mom - baby is ready". The look on my mom and Neil's face when they came RUNNING into the room was absolutely priceless. My mom had sauce all over the front of her blouse, Neil is freaking out and the doc and I are hysterical laughing. I pushed for a total of 9 minutes (yes, I know - lucky girl LOL) and Jack Michael came out....all 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 21 inches of sheer perfection.
My birth experience was perfect - I could not have asked for anything better. My doctor TOTALLY and COMPLETELY came through on everything he promised me and more. It really was a pleasure and I truly feel so different this time - it was such a miracle to see him be born in a much calmer environment and the joking around and laughing made his birth just so special and I'll treasure it always.
Being home with Ava is a bit hard - I'm doing my best to put her first and give her lots of extra attention. She of course has chosen this week to start teething again and has been miserable so along with her and a newborn I'm beyond exhausted. However, I know it'll get easier and sleep will eventually happen.

Ahhhh Lori - Congratulations. Jack is beautiful. I am so glad you had a wonderful delivery. Try to take it easy and enjoy both your beautiful children.
