For Joseph - he was home for 2 weeks, but Joseph was in the hospital for the 1st week.

For Maddie - he was out 1 week. (he just got back from a 10 week furlough).

Dh had 6 weeks paid paternity. He took 3 weeks when she was first born and then when I went back to work at 12 weeks he stayed home for 3 more weeks with her. We were very lucky.

He went back to work the day after I came home. He is in sales, so he works pretty much all the time. I didn't mind though, I had plenty of visitors and didn't really need help taking care of the baby.

DH was home for a week and then started an internship. But when it was over in Aug he didn't find another job, so we were both Nate most of days when he didn't have class.

1st: She was born on Wed.-he took off Thur and Fri-went back to work on Mon.
2nd: He was born on a Fri. night-he had to go back to work on Mon.

I was by myself and had no problem with that.

Alex was born on a Thursday and he went back to work on Tuesday.

DH had 5 days of paternity leave that he took, but only one of those days was spent with us at home. The rest of the days we were in the hospital. He had recently started a new job and wasn't eligible for vacation time yet so he went back to work after that. I wish he could have stayed home longer.

1 week... but he came home early everyday and his mom stayed with us for 3 weeks.

1 week with each child. My hubby's BF was able to take paternity leave for 4 months

He didn't plan on taking the time off but stayed home with me for 2 weeks. I was sooo grateful!

Dh was off for 4 days -- day before my c-section, day of, and then the day i came home and the day after.

A week, but I was in the hospital for 4 of those days after a c/s. HE plans on a week again this time.

However, he did have to go into work for a few hours each of those days. He tells me it comes with the territory of owning a family business.

If i remember correctly, 2 weeks the first time, and the 2nd time one week because his mom and my mom helped out after that (both c/s). and Im not one to want to be smothered for too long.

Having one was much easier obviously, so caring for a newborn, even with a c/s was not hard. but having the toddler the 2nd time I needed the help with HIM more than anything.
(entertaining him, lifting, changing, etc.)

this time, we'll see. he can take as much as I want him to, but I think one week is enough and then we play it by ear after that.
Id rather spread out his weeks to later on, family time, small vacations, etc.

DH was working in Real Estate when Bella was born so I really lucked out. He was home the first two weeks 24/7 and then after that he went to work (down the block) and came home every couple of hours to help out for the duration of my leave (9 1/2 weeks). Then he stayed home with the baby by himself for 6 weeks (two of them I was off for xmas) so we really had a great situation the first 4 months.

My husband works night but he took a week and 1/2 off.. Then he was hom ein the day time w/us...

Scott was home for 6 weeks, with about 2-3 days during that time that he went into work.

I am VERY lucky, he got 1 week of paternity, 3 weeks of vacation plus he always gets Christmas-New Years Off so all in all it just worked out really well.
