Scott it is soooooooo much cheaper than if you have to buy your meals/food shopping. For 260 you get breakfast, lunch, dinner AND dessert! it really is cheap! and thats for a whole month. when I go food shopping I spend easily about 100-110 a week. you still need to go and buy salads and veggies but its still way cheaper than if I had to purchase all those meals for a month at the supermarket or out to dinner. Plus the best part is you dont have to worry about cooking!!!!! just heat it up and wallah- and the food is yummy! GL!

Well this week I have two birthdays and an engagement party - and next week I have 2 or 3 more birthdays - I will wait till february to start - My mother in law is starting this week though

I agree wtih Janice, actually even though it sounds like N/S is an expensive plan, I find that between DH and myself we are actually saving money on grocery costs (since we don't have to buy chicken/steak and other more expensive grocery items). Its worked out really well for us, but again its not for everyone
Janice - it sounds as though you are doing SO WELL, way to go girl!!  Are you going to stick with N/S or switch to Atkins? I know you were torn based on some things your doctor was recomending
Jen - You DH lost 70 lbs, that is awesome and inspiring! We're all here to support you.. I really do love this plan so I'm happy to hear that more people are joining.. You will do great, and with your DH joining with you it'll make it a lot easier (I know that has helped me immensely, having DH do the plan w/me)
My Update: The past few weekends I have been eating ENTIRELY "off plan" (what with Christmas and New Years/my birthday there was no way I could stick with N/S food) but EVEN after eating like a pig those 2 weekends, I weighed in on Saturday , 12/31 and lost another 1.5 pounds! So my total weight loss since September '05 to date is 32 lbs I was shocked to actually LOSE during the holidays!!
I still have about 15 pounds to lose until I hit goal, its coming off REALLLLLLLY slow now but I plan to hit the gym hardcore now that the holidays are over to give my metabolism a 'boost'
Keep up the great work everyone

Do you excersize on NS or do you just follow the diet?
Right now I am not doing any excersize - but im sure as soon as I lose a little weight I will get that energy back that I have lost since I gained so much weight

Yes I do exercise presently, but not nearly as much/often as I need to
The weight really flew off me just by following the plan .. same for my DH. But I will admit that I was very very strict for the first couple months, I never cheated and I believe this is why I was so successful initially.. now I do go "off" on the weekends a bit but I never gain luckily
Both my DH and I are hitting "plateaus" right not though since we are close to our goal (before this past week's loss I was stuck at the same weight for a couple weeks) So I know that increasing my aerobic activity and weigh training will help a lot with this last bit of weight

I was contemplating Nutrisystem and after reading all of this think this could be for me.
In 05 I packed on some extra weight- quit smoking, stress family stuff and I have been eating like crazy.

Are you left feeling hungry after a Nutrisystem meal or do you feel fulfilled?

Welcome!!!!! Yes I totally feel fullfilled, you are adding food to it like salads and fruit that I dont even eat all of it, too fulling in fact!
Flee- WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!! that is AWESOME!!!!! YES I am staying on NS, I have to reorder, screw Atkins- I know I will never stay on that and will gain the weight back. I havent been eating the NS food for a week and half now, I ran out and didnt reorder cause I was gonna start atkins and I have been eating regular food, just keeping in mind what I have learned from NS and I am cheating too and am I still LOSING weight! I lost 1 lb. I know its 1 lb but when I say Im cheating that means cookies chips icecream- hello- I know Im bad, I fell off the wagon only b/c I ran out of food! Even DH said wow you lost so much weight! I fit back into my size 10 jeans!!!! I was a 14 just thanksgiving!!!! thats how fast it comes off. Now I know if I was 100 % strict I could have lost more, to total I have lost 14lbs, and inches bigtime. I think the inches is where I lost the most.
I am so thank ful to you Flee for posting about NS months ago and with your inspiration and success that gave me that push I needed!
Im going away next week so that week I will eat like if I was on atkins mixed with NS and then when I get back I hope my box is here waiting for me!

Janice THANK YOU  You are so inspiring and flattering.. and you are an awesome cheerleader for helping ME stick with the plan... I am glad that just by posting that I was starting N/S that I somehow helped YOU as well.. though YOU are doing all the hard work so you have only YOURSELF to thank for your accomplishments! 14 pounds is a LOT of weight, and dropping those sizes is the BEST part! I have to say that everytime I'm tempted to overeat, I think about my clothes and how a few months ago I could not even squeeze into anything, and now everything is falling off me. Its an AMAZING feeling , far better than the temporary high of any food 
I am glad that the plan is working for you and you are going to reorder the food. Even with a few cheat days in there, you still LOST and that means you have learned portion control, which is the biggest obstacle to overcome! Way to GO! Lord knows I have been cheating over the holidays bigtime, but after a bad weekend I would go right back on the plan the next day.. and somehow I did still lose (go figure!) I think that weight loss is the main objective for you and your doctors would agree. and I personally agree that for me personally Atkins is just TOO restrictive... I tried it for 2 weeks but just hated how I felt. BUT again, it has to be whatever works for any individual, and this plan isn't for everyone either.

Well at first, its tough. It is a bit of a shock when you see what you SHOULD be eating as opposed to what you HAVE been eating. Yes the portions are small, not gonna lie, but that is how we are SUPPOSED to eat.. and your body does adjusts to the smaller portions. I do recall that after 1 week, however, I was not hungry at ALL. When you add the dairy items, fruits, veggies, etc to each meal, you actualy start to think "wait, I'm eating an awful LOT and yet I'm still losing!" There are still some days now that I cannot eat everthing, and now that I've lost I find my appetite and body has changed drastically .. so that when I do overeat, I am practically SICK from all the food!!
The reasons this works for me is simple: (1) I actually LIKE the food .. (2) its SO easy and portion controlled... I am not a great cook and am not a great planner SO just having the 3 meals/1 snack made "for me" and just having to add the "extras" makes my life SO much easier and therefore, easy to stick to the plan..so yes, to answer, I do feel fulfilled

I hope I can kind of sneak in with you but I"m going to be doing Jenny Craig (it's my Christmas present from DH) I go tomorrow morning at 9am!
I'm very upset about my weight gain and have gotten to the point that something needs to done about it. Besides clothes not fitting it was starting to affect me mentally - I didn't want to go out, etc.
I'll say 10 is from marriage and 20 is from quitting smoking,depression and IF meds.
Even though I'm on a different food plan I hope I can join you, I've read through this thread and the support is great!!
Flee, your loss is amazing - I hope I have the same success as you have!
Good luck to all of us and may we have thin 2006s!!!

Welcome Donna! (I have missed you, by the way )
Jenny Craig and N/S seem to be fairly similar plans ... so by all means, join in ... we can use all the support we can get
I pretty much could have written your post back in September when I finally got so upset/disgusted with my weight gain that I had to do something about it. For me, between the post-wedding weight gain and then TTC and thinking "well I'll hopefully get PG, so why lose weight NOW only to gain" had me in a vicious cycle. After getting PG and having my M/C, I was emotionally and physically spent and at my highest weight in years... and since I knew I could not TTC for a bunch of months, I took the forced "break" as a sign to get my health and body back into shape.. !
SOO while our stories are a bit diff, I def. know where you are coming from!!
BEST of luck on your plan have you started yet ? Do you go to the JC locations and get weiged in, buy the food, etc?
Keep us all posted on your progress!!

I worked out this week a couple of times for the 12st time since the summer and I am feeling it 
I am going to get this Nutrisystem started and I'll update you on how it goes.
Thanks for the honest responses- like I said to me----portion control is the hardest and I will leep in mind that it will get better

hi everyone,
i ordered nutrisystem on qvc, with weekends off. i don't really know much about it, but figured i would start out doing it for one month and see how it goes. i have been on and off of weight watchers and having hard time. i need to loose about 20 pounds. i will be checking out this thread, you guys have alot of info here! i get my order the 17th of jan and i will start after that.

i'm sure it still works doing it for 5 days and weekends off, i really don't know, this is my first time trying NS. they give you a meal plan, ideas, for weekends. i will probably cook weight watchers recipes on the weekends and see if that works.

NS sounds so appealling...reasonable price, preplanned meals that are easy to prepare, weigh loss...I have to look into this a bit.

yeah, i could do that also.....duh, i didn't think of that! but i would have to order from the NS website and pay more. i didn't do the automated ordering on qvc. i wanted to pick out my food next time and see if it works at least!
