When we have a daughter we are naming her Maija (Mya). I like names with weird spellings. We also like the name Julia, Jolie, Hope, Grace, and Kaija. We go with the german spelling of names usually as I am from a german family. Replace the y with j.

Kia is my precious bulldogs name!!! LOL I'm not a fan of "cute" girls names. If the name won't look professional on a diploma hanging on the wall then it's too "cute". Some names are adorable for an infant to 16 year old but will it suit a 45 yr old women?? Something to think about........

Gina, my sister told us the exact same thing!!! It's SO true... They won't be a cutesy baby forever and to find a suitable name for adulthood as well

I can sympathize with you on having a PH!!! I have a picky DH too - every girl's name that I come up with he doesn't like. But of course he has no suggestions of his own 
My niece is Kaitlin Rose and she goes by Kaitie.
I also love Noelle, but DH says it sounds like Christmas

SO I ran about 75 names past DH last night... then I gave him the book and told him to pick some names.
He came up with Jenna and Jessica (Jessie for short). BUT with our last name, we really have to stay away from "J" first names...
So Kaitlyn Marie is still the only one we can agree on.
Why is this so hard? LOL

I am partial to Jenna actually-it was DH's choice but some other names I liked were Olivia, Sophia, and Gabrielle.

I like Makenna too - he said the same thing.
Our friends just had a baby and named her Kyla...so thats out. So is Madison, Makensie, Ella, Emily, Kaylee, and a few others....lots of our friends are having or just had little girls.
I see you like the name Makenna...what about Kenna, my very Irish stepbrother just had a little girl last year and her name is Kenna Nicole, and my other niece is Avery.

I also like the formal name with the short nickname.
How bout Gabriella/Gaby?
Adrianna is one of my fave names but I cant think of a good nick name for it.
A friend of mine has a daughter Mikayla and they call her Kayla, you could call her Katie.
