Just throw them out it is your safest bet.

Just because things say they are flushable doesn't mean they truely are anyway.

Of course this is coming from a spaz who when we closed on our new construction home went online and looked up what detergents, shampoos, soaps.. etc were bad for septic tanks and made sure to change accordingly.

The same way you would dispose of pads, bandaids or tissues

A little trash can under your sink or near your commode that is lined and removed daily.

Or have brown paper bags or something on your tank that you fill and then take right out to your trash.

I was thinking of NOT using them AT ALL anymore...I cannot even imagine having to dispose of them any other way than flushing them...

flushing them should not be a problem....I grew up in suffolk, everyone has a cesspool....its never been a problem to flush

i never flush them unless i'm in school, so i just wrap them in toilet paper, roll them up and toss them in the b/r garbage. discreet. i personally don't want them coming back to haunt me if they don't go down. the only downfall of throwing them out is that sometimes the dog would get to them. so make sure the door is closed.

You can't flush them. They will clog your lines. It will be pretty embarassing when they roto rooter your line and thats what comes out. Don't do it.

with a cesspool it is recommended to throw them in the trash, not flush them. They can cause a back up in the pipeline (I know from experience....and it was at DH house...talk about emabrassing!!!)

You should not flush them no matter what type of plumbing you have, they can clog your air spout.

Exactly. In addition to that, I have heard more than one story about people with cesspools that overflow on to the front lawn and all the stuff the overflows with the sewage (tampons, condoms, etc.) Not a great first impression with the new neighbors.

Take my word . From being in the construction business... don't do it. Cess pools are terrible. If your town has a sanitary system. Hook up to it.(Sewer lines in the road. Nassau County has them, but most of Sufflok County doesn't.)

I'm still in shock about this topic. I have been asking everyone at work what they do. Half of them flush and never heard you can't and the other half wrap it up.

this is from drugstore.com this is on the Tampax box....
Flushable, Biodegradable - TAMPAX tampons, cardboard applicators, and wrappers are flushable and biodegradable. Any toilet and drain line can clog if overloaded with bulk waste. For best results, flush tampon and applicator separately from bath tissue.

I was going to write the same thing. I NEVER heard that you can't flush them, everyone I know has flushed them all their life. I think I'd rather NOT use them, than have to wrap and dispose!
