Can you stomach another failed playoff race better? 
Hey... the Yanks may not even make the playoffs this season after all the moves Toronto made.
I think Damon would be a great fit for the Yanks. But I think he will be staying with the Sox.
Its funny how the Yanks don't mind Clemens (a TRUE Red Sox player) when he was helping the Yanks win championships... but don't want Damon. Yea yea i know what you are going to say... "blah i never liked Clemens... cough cough".

Not what I was gonna say at all. What i was going to say is that I want him.

Wait till Nomar signs with the Indians... and you will see the two sides start talking.
Boras needs the Yanks to drive up the price... or else Damon will get a very crap contract... just like Ramon Hernandez got.

I wanted Damon until he passed that comment over the summer about the Yankees. He said something about I know they are going to want me but I don't want to play for them, I want to stay in Boston, I'm a true Boston player, blah, blah, blah. Now that Boston doesn't want to give him his money he might play for the Yankees? No thanks. With that kind of attitude he can Cowboy Up in Beantown.

Signed for 4 years / 52 million. 13 million a year.
The Yanks gave him the money he wanted. Pretty good pickup for the Yanks.
Damon now becomes public enemy number one... over Jeter and E-Rod.

I only don't like it because of this comment last year:
"There's no way I can go play for the Yankees, but I know they're going to come after me hard," he said on May 3. "It's definitely not the most important thing to go out there for the top dollar, which the Yankees are going to offer me. It's not what I need."
I guess in the end top dollar was what he needed. Great pick up for the Yankees. Damon is a solid player. He will help this team out a lot.
He better go cut his hair now :)

Hey its been tough. I could barely accept Clemens as a Yankee .. and then Johnson
:... but this time I can SURELY accept Damon. He did make some stupid comments about never playing for the Yanks.. this is true. But I do still like him as a player and I think he's a decent guy
Bottom line: doesn't matter what we Yankee fans think - he's here, and he's a Yankee now. If ya put up the numbers.. get on base like a good leadoff hitter does.. and most importantly help bring us back to the World Series.. well then Johnny I'll love you forever

Well said. I am actaully very happy with this move. He is a great player and I think he will fit in really well with the team. I think it will help us get that much closer to the World Series again!
