wow I'm becoming an online sweeps addict  and from what I hear on some of these forums... a big red flag is when they're asking YOU for money.

Karissa, I am worried for your MIL.. it DEFINITELY is a scam. I saw a program recently and basically (the bottom line) is that ANYTIME you are asked to give ANYONE money, there is NO way the 'contest' can be legit

I betcha she deposited money from a stolen account number or checking account.
She probably took somebody else's money. 
When she goes to wire the $3800 buks... she will lose that... and then the $4000 will catch up to her and she will lose that too and be out a lot of cash.

my fiancee got the same email, no check or anything but i did a search on yahoo and all these complaints came up saying it was a scam. when in doubt always look it up for researching there is always something out there.

OMG, I bet DJPILL is right!!!! Its probably a stolen account that your MIL deposited and she wired the money to someone else - in England????? oh boy- I hope you MIL doesnt get in trouble!!! when you wire money is it traceable? by her depositing in her name- yikes , her they can find. I hope everything turns out ok.

I've read about this scam a number of times. If anyone wants you to send them money in order to claim a prize, forget it!

tell your mil its a scam! i agree with everyone else she should freeze her account you dont know what kind of people she is dealing with i mean they can instead of putting money in her account take her money i dont trust things like that also call a lawyer and the police and put these people out of bussiness so they cant do that anymore. goodluck!

This is most def. a scam. The check will evenually come back as not legit. But, by the time it does your MIL will already be out the 3800 bucks she's supposed to send to england. She will be held responsible for this. All the bank knows is that your MIL passed a bad check. Tell her not to do ANYTHING!!!!!

definately a scam. Craigslist warns of a similar one about buying cars. Check it out.

Unfortunately they will get that $3800 and in a month when the bank finds out the check was phony they will collect the $3800 from your mom. Maybe she should go to the bank and see if they can reverse the transfer. If not she will be losing a lot of money. It is terrible what they do to take advantage of honest people.

Tell your MIL to call her lawyer NOW. She could be in a heap of trouble because of this.
