I heard it this morning and I think they were just trying to stir up drama and controversy for the sake of the show.
I don't think it's a big deal and the people with weddings on holidays shouldn't let it get to them. But as I was sitting there listening I was like "ooooh....those LIW brides are gonna be PIIIISSSED!!!!!"

I'm having my wedding the Friday night after Thanksgiving - but paying SATURDAY NIGHT prices, because its considered a "prime date"

me too... I also think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't really hold the people of Z100 in such high regard to really care about anything they say- its a free country- they can say what they want.
Personally- I have a wedding to go to in Cali this September the weekend after Labor Day. I would love for it to have been on Labor Day weekend so I wouldn't have to take a day off work. But I am going to that wedding- no matter what weekend it is.

see the thing is that until today I was totally in the dark, noone - not one guest at my wedding - mentioned that my wedding was inconvenient...

My take on this is that most people choose the holiday weekend, so their OOT guests will have one less day to take off from work, not because they are getting a "deal".
For me, the bottom line is that if it is that big of an inconvenience for you to come on a holiday weekend, keep your whining self home. The people who are closest to the bride and groom will be there regardless.

I know I am going to get blasted for this, but this is my opinion and we are all entitled to it. I don't think it is cheap or tacky to have a wedding on a holiday weekend, but I think it is a p-i-t-a. Especially summer weekends: Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day. I know many people who have standing plans and just won't go, I always go because I am like that, but not thrilled about it. Just my .02, but like I said I am thinking of the summer weekends, when we usually go away.
Anyway I heard the Z100 bit and thought it was ridiculous and they were just starting drama (it happened after a phone tap). What the hell does Danielle know about tacky - I didn't know she was the new Emily Post.

Exactly...they don't know sh!t about it...well, Danielle should know a little better but still...mostly it's MEN talking here and coming up with the topic, etc. What do MEN know anyway!
My SIL is planning her 2nd wedding and my DH has made some comments to her in front of me that made me cringe (and would cause a 10 page drama thread on LIW) ...you would think he knows better having recently gone through it, but he doesn't!

I actually did get a discount of sorts; only because it was a Sunday wedding. But then again, I got married at the Crescent so I still paid a pretty penny.

I used to listen to Z100 every day, but not anymore so I missed it. I remember a few years ago Skeery Jones said something about the girls at a particular all-girl catholic school in my neighborhood being sluts and there was another uproar just like this. I personally thought it was hilarious because DH's ex girlfriend went to that school (petty sure, but funny anywayl), and it was the reputation that the school had when I was in highschool (Skeery was only a year behind me in school and is from the same neighborhood). Was it true for everyone? NO! But it got a LOT of people listening to the radio station... especially after the school protested!
I remember what it was to be a bride and how every detail was important, but really, there have always been people who don't like going to weddings on holiday weekends (my DH being one of them, although he just doesn't like going to weddings period, he LOVES to b!tch about it ). What Danielle said was nothing new AT ALL. It was her opinion - nothing more - and the uproar just feeds into it. You can't let it get to you. They want to get people talking about them to see what they'll say next. This week, they've done a pretty good job of that.
