Do you have separate bank accounts?

DH and I did before we were married. We didnt get a joint account until we tied the knot.

Now, we just have one account.

Both...

We have our joint acct and our seperate accts.
It works now...until we buy a home. At that time he'll close his.

we both have a personal checking account

We have joint savings and separate checking.

We each have debts that we are paying on our own. Once those debts are done (hopefully by December) we will have one checking.

We have a joint savings but then we each have our own savings. Checking accounts, we both have separate.

The reason we do this is bc we haven't gotten around to combining everything after the wedding. The personal checking accounts will always stay though as i use mine for all bills

One account now. It was very hard for me to give that up & combine.

We have joint savings and joint checking but then we also have own separate accounts.

I have no use for my own checking account. We both put our paycheck in the checking account, and it is used for bills only. We use cash alot for purchases, and rarely use our credit cards.

I know "you never know what could happen", but I would not feel right having a "just in case we split" account.

We have separate checking accounts and a joint savings.

we have 4 accounts- we each have our own seperate savings and checking accounts, plus we have joint checking and joint savings account as well.
we have our paychecks direct deposited so that an equal percentage goes in teh jonit accounts. we use these to pay for the mortgage, dinners out together that aren't for special occasions, house bills, groceries, etc.
we also keep seperate accounts becasue basicaly we're both brats- LOL neither one of use was ready to completely combine money. and this way if i want to buy some new clothes, i can use my "personal" money and he can't complain. we also like having seperate accounts to buy each other gifts from so that we're buying the gifts with "our own' money, and not combined money
ETA: we just feel like having seperate money as well as joint cuts down a little the " why did you spend money on this?" kind of stuff..

We have two bank accounts and both are joint.

Joint savings, seperate checking.

It's easier to have seperate checking accounts. We don't have to check with each other on balance transfers, who's check is hitting the account when, who has to pay a bill, will we have enough after paying all the monthly bills...

We keep buffers in our accounts so we never need to shuffle money around to pay bills.

My account became the joint account, he still has his account. I manage the money, so I just transfer his spending money into his account.
