Kaleb is so sick...disappointed with NSAL...UPDATE #2

Well we figured Kaleb had kennel cough since he started coughing the day after my brother brought him home, we called NSAL, and they could not see him right away, so my brother headed back home (upstate) and brought him to the Vet. This dog is very seriously ill with Pneumonia. He has been hospitalized since Monday. I am just disappointed that NSAL could miss a dog so Gravely ill.

Please just pray that this little boy turns out okay.... we just want him healthy and able to start living ths good life my brother has in store for him.

unfortunately NSAL does not always have the resources it needs...

I am so sorry to hear this. My sister volunteered for a time at NSAL and while they are doing good things, she told me some things that really disappointed me about the organization itself.

I hope and pray that Kaleb gets better and joins your brother and his family soon!!

Please make sure they know about this. THey shoud reimburse him for the vet bills.

Awww. My puppy from NSAL (now 5 months old) was so sick when we brought him home too. He was in the "healthy" section there when we got him, and the next day he had green mucous coming out of his nose and kennel cough! He also got my other doggie sick who is never sick!

Sometimes I think they can't avoid it. The "sick" dogs are in the next room but there is no door and people go from room to room looking and touching.

OMG we have this television programme that is on in the UK called a Dogs Life and it folows the NSAL and its pets through adoption and I watched it yesterday and a guy had to bring his dog back in with serious Pneumonia!!
I wonder if its really common with dogs fom NSAL

I hope he gets better really soon!!

My btoher called me last night, he sounded so sad on the phone, I thought it was REALLY bad news....but he was just being quiet because the baby was sleeping ...PHEW!!

Well Kaleb is home...YAY!!! He is home on lots of meds, and has a way to go to feeling better. My brother is extremely happy though. Thank you all for the well wishes.

Now my dog is starting to cough ...he is vaccinated for kennel cough etc... but I think a strain may have gotten through. I am going to keep an eye on him, and if he seems to get worse, we will go to the Vet on Saturday!

My pooch also came from NSAL, he was in the sick room, so I knew from day one, he would be on meds. I htink MOST places you have to expect at least kennel cough, you just cant help it in those type of enviroments..I understand that. However, Pneumonia really can be fatal if not treated, I am just glad Kalebs was cought in time.

That's good news!!! I hope Kaleb continues to get better...and that your dog doesn't get sick too!

Ok, just scare the crap out of me...

I am super super paranoid when it comes to my dog, so any little thing freaks me out.

I am crazy when it comes to my dog. She just turned 15, had her since she was 2 months. She sees a cardiologist. I hope I didn't scare you, but coughs can be a symptom of many things. If it keeps up, have it checked out. Good luck.

I hope Kaled keeps getting better. As the cold winter months grow closer the kennel cough does also in the shelters.
