Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

well, since this was bumped I'll answer...

I had the absolute best time at my wedding! It was so much fun! It was the most special day thus far, and I made sure to really enjoy myself and let all the stress go!

However, I did not feel gorgeous - nothing was particularly wrong with my hair or makeup, so I can't blame the vendors- I just didn't feel like I thought I was suppossed to feel! People say I looked beautiful and all the other adjectives that go along with being a bride on her wedding day, but looking back on the pictures, I still don't think that I was "stunning"Chat Icon

My day was perfect until I got sick and missed half my reception Chat Icon No one knew and everyone talks about how awesome the reception was. But I feel I ruined it for my DH and I.

To this day, I have anxiety attacks when anyone talks about my wedding. I should go talk to a therapist about it- I still haven't looked at the pictures, and I had to have my sister take my dress to be preserved because I can't bear to look at it.

I really enjoyed my actual wedding day...but I had huge problems with my Gown, my mother's Gown and my Bridesmaids dresses. It made the 9 days before my wedding a living hell.

I had a good time. Was it the best day...maybe..it was overwhelming though.
Nothing major happened that was bad and the minor things were nothing I couldn't get over. All of the vendors were fine and I had a good time.

Two days before the wedding my veil ripped and Bridal Reflections repaired it even though I didn't buy it from them. The videorapher blew a fuse right before the ceremony but I never knew it. Dh did and didnt tell me

The whole day is completely overwhelming though

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

To some of you LIWers who said that you weren't very happy on your day: I never would have known from your pictures. Most of you looked incredibly happy!!!!

There were points during which I was nervous. But most of the time I was swinging and singing and gettin' merry like Christmas!!

I stressed out for a long time before our wedding becuase we paid for it ourselves and bought a house, so it was tough...but we did it. Chat Icon

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

I had so many issues with my vendors the day of (DJ sending replacements without telling me, florist not putting out all the flower, and a crazy story with my hall the week of) , and my bridesmaids were driving me crazy (they were late to my house and I had to get dressed on my own). But I decided it was my wedding day and I wasn't going to let any of that bother me then. Later, I let out the frustration, but I really enjoyed my wedding.

although it wasn't the worst day ever... i didn't really have a good time.

it took hind-sight and hearing that my guests had a great time to make me feel better about my wedding

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

I was ****** that DH spent most of the evening talking with his friends. I think I danced with him 3 times. I understand that he had been gone in NY for a month at that point and everyone wanted to talk to him about his job, etc, but I had to keep reminding him that it was our wedding. I'll still never get over it.

As for everything else, it couldn't have gone any better. It still makes me feel good when everyone tells me how much fun they had and how beautiful everything was. I did it all myself and hired excellent vendors.

I never thought I would say this b/c I am Type A personality and always look back on things to wish I had done things differently. But I was a very happy bride on my wedding day. Things didn't go perfectly but I didn't care. It was the best day of my life and it definitely showed in the smile I had stuck on my face all day.

Even though I was stressed out and bummed about getting to really know certain people who I thought were my REAL friends, my wedding day was great and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves and partied like no one else on the dance floor...everyone was telling me how we gave off this loving and fun vibe that all of our guests enjoyed.

My favorite part was being married the the most amazing guy on the face of the earth...

other than that...The DJ sucked, my DOC was useless, I was completely exhausted

Needless to say...No...it was NOT the best day of my life either.

ditto! the actual getting married part was amazing! i loved every minute of being at the Church!!! but from the minute we got to the catering hall i was just stressed. i felt like i overanalyzed everything and did not take the time to breathe it all in. i was so worried about the little things that i didnt let myself enjoy it. not to mention my DJ and photographer were arguing over where DH and I should be all the time and i had to separate them like they were 5 year olds, my DOC is a great person but did virtually nothing for me at the hall, and the limos that we spent so much money on arrived for pick up 10 mins late and no A/C!!!!

if i had to do it all over again, it would just be me and DH on the beach somewhere at sunset! quick and painless!!!!

eta: to this day i still get compliments from friends and family about what a great reception it was...but its so hard for me to believe them because i was picking apart everything! i advise my girlfriends who are engaged now to definitley not do that!

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

I was definitely happy but it was a bit hectic running around taking pictures, hugging and kissing people and all. I wish we had more time to enjoy the food.

I HATED the days and weeks before

but the DAY OF...

i let every thing go..and had the time of my life

NOTHING bothered me...
(well maybe the fact that my dad forgot his vest at the store he bought his tux and my BM's DH had to pick it up and bring it to the church...that got me a little)

BUT once the I DO's were done..

WE PARTIED OUR AZZES OFF

This was me too, minus the tux fiasco. I was super stressed in the weeks and days leading up to it. Plus, I added to my own stress by having one of my BMs who lives abroad stay with DH & I in our studio apartment for the week of the wedding! I was so stressed I even got a cold sore the week of the wedding Chat Icon but I told myself that day, "nothing matters, just enjoy it", and I did. Vendors and family were asking me questions the day of about how I wanted things and I was like, "I don't care - figure it out!"

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

hmmm....

i enjoyed my wedding day. it was far from perfect, but enjoyed all the company and everyone's well wishes.

2 vendors let me down--- i guess i had higher expectations.

but best day of my life? nope.

the day i gave birth was. and maybe several of the days i was in tahiti on my honeymoon. i think i actually enjoyed my HM more than the wedding itself.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?

I definately enjoyed my wedding, but I will not say it was the best day of my life. I think I had a better day when we got engaged and it was just the two of us. To have to put on the fake smile all day is just not that fun to me. Of course I am thrilled that I married the man of my dreams, but I would have much rather elopedChat Icon
