Need Opinions QUICK!
hey guys. im dropping off my resignation letter in a minute, just wanted to get opinions before i do. thanks.
Dear Rose,
I regret to inform you that I will no longer be working for Red Pearl. I am truly sorry, it is just not working out.
I tried to stay on as to be helpful through the holiday season, but you can only see it as me abandoning you. It is just very stressful everyday to be reminded that I took another job. Taking on another one was not to hurt you, it was a better opportunity for me and I am sorry you can’t see that. I’m just tired of coming home upset all the time. I am sure you are unaware of how little jabs you say can actually be really hurtful.
I absolutely loved working at the shop but it seems in the long run it just won’t be. I want to thank you very much for the opportunity to work for you. I truly appreciate it and I wish for the best for Red Pearl.

it depends on which route you want to go.
if you have to see this woman all the time, since the store is right by you, and it would make things uncomfortable. then i would take out alot of it, and make it more professional and objective.
but, if you want to get your point across to her that shes miserable and was making you miserable- then i think it gets the job done.

Overall, its very good. I would just cut out the middle part. I don't think you have to give her an explanation or to discuss your critcisms of her. It serves no purpose. If it were me, I would not want any personality conflicts documented on paper.

I would take out the entire 2nd paragraph. It's not necessary to include what went wrong and it's a little too personal. Keep it short, sweet and professional.

well, i figure whether i sugarcoat it or not she will still be a witch to me, so i WANT her to know what a beeeotch she is.
thats my most dreaded thing: seeing her..
but honestly, i know what hours she usually works and i dont think ill really ever be running into her. i can work around it.
but yeah, of course thats the major sukky thing.
eta: but the 2nd paragraph explains my reasons for leaving

I think that its was appropriate because this woman made her feel so awful an it probably made ( Lolita)her feel good writing expressing it to her.
ETA- I guess you DON'T owe your boss the expanation but I sympathize with how crappy she made you feel

You don't have to give a reason. If you want to, you can SAY those things to her but hand her the simplified letter. Like Shelley said, you don't want those types of conflicts documented on paper.

It doesn't matter why you're leaving. You're leaving. If she asks you why- you can always tell her. If she agreed to be nicer would you stay? would you believe her?? I think it is just a jab that makes you feel better.
Trust me, you never know when your paths will cross again in life. YOu may apply for a job 5 years down the line and there she is. I left a job and never thought it would come back again, but a few years later someone asked me to get a reference from them. I just believe its better to never burn your bridges. JMO.

well, to be honest this woman is just evil. she has made me cry wayyyyyyy too much over the 2 years i have worked for her. i feel like she deserves it. NO ONE tells her the way she truly is. i feel like this is the perfect opportunity. not being too mean of courrse (with her, i could be much worse) but maybe it will open her eyes up to see that she took me for granted.

thats how my supervisor at my old job was. just straight up MEAN in every way possible. But, i did a good job there, and if i ever had to give them as a reference, i knew that all they could say was that i was a great worker (and i actually DID have to put them down for this job that i'm at now). I know you want to Make a difference- but people like that dont Change, and unfortunately, Youre not going to be the one to enlighten her

I know how that feels... trust me. But like I said you never know when it could come back and bite you in the azz. Buts its up to you. Unfortunately in business, sometimes you just have to take some sh#it. If you really want to tell her how you feel, do it orally- not in writing. That can really haunt you. If anyone calls her for a reference, she can send it to them...
ETS: I have worked in employment law and things get sent around that you would never think!! It really could come back to haunt you. If she keeps a file on you- it will always be there. Think in the long wrong- what if you have a conflict with a future employer- Do you really want that letter floating around? It could be used against you.
But of course, in the end, its your decision.

and it true that no matter which letter i leave she will still have the same reaction.

true, true, but to be honest before we were "red pearl", we were "metaphors"... whihc has since closed! i could just use metaphors then. or something.
