We had to put our dog to sleep last week.  It cost us $140.......I know how hard it is

It cost my parents almost $350 to put their dog down & to have her cremated privately

awww what happened?
I'll try to make a long story short... we've had a pommie in our family (that was originally my mom's dog) for years. She's about 14 years old. When I had the baby, we could not handle both her and the Bull Mastiff, plus her high pitched bark woke the baby whereas the Bull Mastiff's low gruff bark did not. So I sent her to live with my mom, who had been asking for her back for months and months, but I just couldn't bear to part with her. The move was VERY stressful for her (the pommie) so as much as I've missed her these past few months, I didn't want to move her again.
Well my mom just came up this weekend for the christening and brought the dog with her...because she took her to the vet who says her days are numbered, she has liver disease, and is on medication. She wanted to DUMP the dog on us because she didn't "want to deal with the dog dying and being sick".
Needless to say, not only am I heartbroken, I am positively FURIOUS with my mom. We aren't speaking. She brought the dog here with ZERO warning. She looks horribly malnourished and just neglected in general. There is something wrong with her back, she is walking crooked and limping with her head cocked to one side. I don't know what the hell she did to her down there in FL but the poor dog just doesn't look like she should be suffering like this. I'm taking her to the vet today because 1) my mom didn't send the medication  2) to see how bad it really is.
But I know what the news is going to be. She's very old and apparently very very sick. I don't want her to suffer anymore.
