Buying things on Impulse

I have a friend who purchase things on impulse and then returns the items. I am trying to tell her that this kind of behavior is not good. Does anyone know somebody with this kind of behavior?

Re: Buying things on Impulse

I've been reading articles recently about how some stores are thinking of instituting stricter return policies so that people like your friend may start to have a lot more trouble returning things. It was something about them tracking the number of returns an individual makes and if the # begins to be excessive, the store may limit returns. I am not sure this will happen or not, but it's something to think about.

See I dont do that.. I just buy stuff and then later decide I dont need it or just dont want it anymore. If I cant afford something, Im certainly not going to buy it.

Re: Buying things on Impulse

I do this with clothes...I'lll buy something I like or think I might wear. If i don't wear it in a month or so, I figure I'll never wear it and I'll return it. My DH thinks I have issues, but I feel why keep something you won't wear. That's what they have Return Policies for!

I have a friend that works part time for Sears and they institute this policy. After a certain amount of returns, they won't let you return anymore.

There is a difference between a person buys something on the impulse JUST for the sake of saying so...and someone buying somethng and then realizing they dont like it or need it...

Re: Buying things on Impulse

My sisters do this all the time! I have gotten better with my impulse shopping. I used to go crazy in CVS/Eckerd, etc and just buy things (specifically make up) because it was on sale or was new and I had to try it.

I have a very impulsive friend and I think that is what has put her into financial problems!

Ray and I never make significant purchases without consulting each other first.
