While I do agree everything happens for a reason (then why else would it happen?) - the one thing I have trouble with is that God intended things to happen.
I hope others do not jump on me for that statement. There are things in my life that have happened for me to struggle with that one.
Not looking to start anything here, these are my feelings

I do believe that everything happens for a reason EXCEPT loosing a loved one. To me there is no reason that something like that happens for a reason but that is Jmo.

Yes, I am a firm believer. I always tell DH that it is not for us to always figure out what the reason is, but to have faith that it was the right thing. He still doesn't get it.

I believe that to a point... I've been through a lot with my ex and getting together with my highschool sweetheart and it was everything that happened along the way led me to him, so there I believe that it all happened for reason... however I lost my brother and 2 cousins in a car accident years ago and I refuse to believe there was a higher reason for that.

I do believe everything happens for a reason. You may see the 'reason' years later in reflection, not at the time it is upsetting/etc.
My friend lost her 18 yr old son last year-he fell asleep at the wheel- that is something I don't understand.

I do, I am pretty sure that most things happen for a reason. Whether or not that reason was there before something happens or after, I'm not sure. If that makes sense.

Yes, I do.
I guess the best example would be 2 years ago, I had 2 seizures..well, the 1st one, I was home alone, "came to" and had no idea what happened to me..
2 months later, had another and my whole family was in the car, we were driving down to FL! I had 5 witnesses who were able to see what exactly I was going through and were able to tell the EMTs and the Dr.s.,
I had no idea what happened and couldn't describe anything!
I was "Meant to be" that my whole family was in the car and dh wanted to drive and not fly!
Im not going to bore you with other examples, but, yes, absolutley everything happens for a reason.

I want to believe but struggle with it. I have been left and abandoned by the three most important people in my life...my mom left when i was 12...never saw her again, dad died at 52 and husband left me last year and getting divorced. What's the reason...im meant to be alone?

First off, I am so sorry these things have happened to you. You seem very sweet and don't deserve the hurt you are going through.
I think the reason could be to make you stronger. I don't think anyone is given what they can't handle. You won't see the reason right away but you will eventually.

I truly believe this. All my struggles and all the pain I went through taught me invaluable lessons in life. I am glad I had (almost) all those experiences.

I am so sorry you are struggling with this. I don't think you were meant to be alone. This is something that helps me when I am feeling all alone in the world. A friend gave this to me when I was younger after a break up with a guy. I kept it and through the years it became more meaningful to me- especially after my dad died 3 days after my 21st birthday. It is also along the theme of this thread.
