19 or 20 I think...I was in college. And the first visit they did not stick fingers in my butt. 
ETA: I've had a gynos by now, and the women have been the most vicious! I bleed after paps for days!

I was in my mid-30s as well.  Wasn't intimate with anyone special, so I didn't see the need.

17, I had to for my ARMY physical. It was so uncomfortable, actually, it was pretty close to being a nightmare. It was like an assembly line.
turned out I did not even go. At the last minute I was awarded a scholarship to school

i had a problem using tampons and they did minor surgery on me
they started me on yearly gyno thing since then
thank god because 3 yrs ago they found pre-cancer cells there and removed them. i will go every 6 months for the rest of my life
GO TO THE GYNO if you have not gone!!!!!!! MY condition is VERY VERY common
