What I REALLY want to know is HOW did the original poster know the ages of the children? Did you ASK them how old they were?
I know my niece is often mistaken for 11 or 12 and shes 9, so I think a LOT of this conversation/arguement has been based on her age. BUT what if she was actually younger?

what are you not understanding? sounds like you are chiming in without reading everything. are you gonna be by yours sons side every single minute? are you gonna be out there bicycling with him and embarrass him when he is 10 and with his friends playing outside?
there are sick people everywhere could be your neighbor. your child is no way safer in their front yard than in a locked car against sickos

I am the original poster and I was being nice...if she was not 10 she was 12. She was definitely not a big girl for her age. Its just not the case. I guess I could have asked.

There are certain things you cant prevent..... but you dont need to make matter worse by leaving your child unattended in a car.. just because your too lazy, to have them come in with you!

I didnt realize that my original post got so off topic but I still remain with the same answer that a 10 yr old girl does not belong in a mens room. The facts are that even if it were her father that had to use the mens room, the 12 yr old brother was still there and could have waited with her. Honestly, both 10 and 12 yr olds can go into bathrooms solo. If the father felt that she couldnt go solo then he should have waited outside the bathroom door for her to come out. I totally agree that "things can happen" but those same things can happen at schools, churches libraries. When do we make our children independent enough to use a bathroom alone? As someone said some places do have "family bathrooms" which is great in an airport or major attraction. In a movie theater like someone else said, its one way in one way out...the child will return when done. If at 10 you cant allow a child to use a bathroom alone, then its time for a full time nanny until they are 18. Its life...children need their independence at some point. Also, I dont think its "a scarring" event to go into a mens room. I think its "Inappropriate".

I wanna tell you a story...
I was 15, I worked at fun4all.... My boss (a woman) offered to give me a ride home... I was very friendly with her (and my parents trusted me)
Well apparently she had a different agenda.... took me back to her house... where her BF was naked on the couch, and they proceeded to tell me, about the 3 some they had planned! 
I got out, made a call.. and all was fine...
BUT I WANNA MAKE IT CLEAR...YOU CANT TRUST ANYONE>>NOT EVEN THE PEOPLE WORKING THERE (AN ATTENDANT) BECAUSE YOU JUST NEVER KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the Father should have stood outside the door and had the daughter go in the womens room, BUT I dont think its that much of a big deal that it didnt happen, He is not a deviant, he was caring about his daughter, so instead we are persecuting him rather then saying hes a good day because why? She "might" have seen a man going to the bathroom.
We dont know how old she was, she could have been younger, and we dont know what she saw, and we ALL see things differently.
I DO think you have to be a parent yourself to answer this more...sorry I do ...because I can know what i would do because I dont have a child.

 Im sorry, Im laughing b/c now Im being told Im lazy- LOL. I didnt say they couldnt come in but if she wanted to stay in the car, and I felt she was mature enough and I knew I would be in and out I would trust her. you know a lil trust here and there goes along way when they get into their teens too . remember that.

My final comment on this is going to be...
It's almost impossible to condemn that father for bringing his daughter into the bathroom. He obviously thought it the best course of action. Since it wasn't our child and noone knows any other information, we really can't make accusations, appropriate or inappropriate.

and like Donna said- I can't believe we are condeming this man for trying to be a good dad.
eta- the argument against this father is soo weak that this back and forth is just pointless.
I can understsand not agreeing with this, but like I said before, I think its rediculous to not understand he was trying to do best for his children and he obviously thought this was the lesser of two evils.

Getting back to the beginning...I said "I was shocked". I didnt call the man a low-life. Anything else that followed my statement including anything that had to do with leaving kids in cars, babies etc... was not on me.

I agree, because whats the big deal? We are assuming it was a bathroom what..full of perverts hoping A little girl walked in, or that what, he stood her next to him while he peed?
I have seen worse on TV....Im sure she has seen a movie or show where you see a man peeing in a bathroom.
AND I have to admit, though this is for another thread  I have been in a mens room 3 or 4 times ( as an adult) and I have never ever seen a man's "you know what" while I was in there.

I thought it was 14...
i thought it was older than 13 too, but under the neglect law, it said they had to be at least 13 years old 
(to me, thats young, but i guess everything is 'too young' when i think about it  )

What does being mature of imature have anything to do with leaving a kid unatended in a car?
My son is good.. if I told him to sit and not touch anything he would.. how does that stop a crazy person from aproaching them?
