Help from Ladies Who Color their Own Hair!!!

Help me!!!!Chat Icon Just dyed my hair and my ears, hairline, and neck are dyed too! Soap isn't really working - called the hotline and they said Seabreeze astringent (which DH will get for me when he gets home) or baby wipes - which dont seem to be working that well (i think they're old)

Any quick help????

TIA!!!!

Re: Help from Ladies Who Color their Own Hair!!!

when i used to dye my hair,
Id put vaseline on my skin close to my hair beforehand.

Then if I still got marks,
rub with vaseline and a washcloth

Re: Help from Ladies Who Color their Own Hair!!!

You might want to try nail polish remover. It is what we used to use to remove spirit gum from our foreheads after a show.

That's what I do.
Maybe you can try rubbing alcohol? That works for me.

Re: Help from Ladies Who Color their Own Hair!!!

OMG the cigarette thing sounded weird.. but I just found this online!

Non-Smokers

1. Burn 2 or 3 cigarettes. If you are not a smoker, please do not start. Burn the cigarettes without exposing yourself to the smoke, or get the ashes from an ashtray.
2. Collect the ashes in the ashtray and separate them from the cigarette butt.
3. Get a cotton ball or disc and make it slightly wet.
4. Dip the cotton into the cigarette ashes.
5. Rub the areas of the skin that have hair dye stains.
6. Clean your face with water and/or cleanser.

OR you can just use Baby Wipes.

Tips

* This method comes from a very well-known hairdressing salon, but don't tell anyone. Picky salon clients might never come back. If you are a hairdresser, hide the ashes!
* Use preventative measures, apply a thin layer of vasoline around your face at the hair line before coloring.

It should definately come off with one of those items. The skin around my hairline really stains from the color but I know others who don't get this at allChat Icon
Hope you like your color after all that workChat Icon

Re: Help from Ladies Who Color their Own Hair!!!

oh gosh, welcome to my world!

next time put vaseline on your ears and hairline.

for now... you have two choices, scrub like theres no tomorrow and hope it gets a few shades lighter.

or go to the beauty supply store. they make a solution that works wonders. will get it off in no time.

good luck

Right now I have to leave my skin be - I've been scrubbing for over two hours and I can't scrub anymoreChat Icon
No beauty supply stores are open anymore at this point - I can go to one upstate tomorrow - just scared that the stuff will have sat for too long on my skin and it wont work!

Re: Help from Ladies Who Color their Own Hair!!!

honestly, for some reason, ALOT of it comes off in the shower. i use a loofa. maybe that helps.. i dunno.

but i often have red/pink/black ears, neck and hairline... its usually gone after a few showers.

also, dont wear a white top! it will prob get ruined!

I would agree. I usually get a good amount on my skin - and I use a loofa or one of those net pouffy sponge things in the showewr and it usually takes it off.
Good luck!!Chat Icon

ETA - yeah, be careful with a light shirt (or towel when you get out of the shower. You'll probably still get some that will run.
