Should I be concerned about not feeling any kicks...

I'm in my 20th week and I haven't felt any realy kicks. I've only felt little tiny flutters (unless it's my stomach) and those don't happen very often. Should I say something to my doctor at my next appt. on 2/2?

Should I be concerned?

I don't think you should be concerned. Everyone baby is different, I am positive that by your next appointment you'll be feeling them.Chat Icon Chat Icon

In another couple of weeks you will surely feel more movement. Some girls didn't feel anything at all until 23+ weeks!

Yes, I agree. I think by the time of your next appt, you will be feeling kicks. Don't worry too much about it, everyone is different.

I didn't feel real good kicks until 23/24, however you should never be shy to mention anything to your doctor. I am sure he/she will say what mine did...it will come...don't worry....

It's just that everyone keeps asking if I have felt any kicks and when I say no, they're all like "oh I felt mine kicking at 18 weeks"

I felt the same way and its my second baby so I figured I would feel it faster but I didn't.
Tell the dr but I'm sure they will say it depends on the position of the baby and stuff.

Just tell them yes you feel the baby moving...since you DO feel fluttering and that's the first feelings you will have.

Flutters are something Chat Icon We all feel different feelings at 1st until we get to know what it is we are feeling.

I started feeling movement early on, maybe 14 - 15 weeks and it felt like tiny pops or gas bubbles. I am real small gal so I was told I would be feeling movement early on. Once you feel it, all I can say is it is the best feeling Chat Icon

Re: Should I be concerned about not feeling any kicks...

I'll be 18 wks tomorrow and I keep wondering when am I going to feel something besides that quickening . DR has assured me a strong heartbeat and not to worry it varies.

DH was a football player so I can only imagine what I have to look forward in the coming months.

ETA: FYI...

Bubbles. Butterflies. Gas. These are all words used to describe what a baby's first movements feel like to a mother.

Quickening is defined as the first time you feel your baby move. This is a long anticipated event in every pregnancy.

If you are expecting your first baby you can expect to feel your baby for the first time between 18 and 24 weeks gestation. If this is not your first baby you can expect to feel your baby a bit sooner than you felt your first. This is usually said to happen because you know what you're feeling for and your uterus is more stretched out than it was the first time around.

Even when you've been there before many women describe these first movements as differently as night and day

I didn't feel ANYTHING until about 22 weeks- not even flutters. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Re: Should I be concerned about not feeling any kicks...

I"m just a little nervous cuz I haven't even felt the little flutters for a couple of days now.

But we did hear his heartbeat last week at the doctors and it was a stong heartbeat.

Re: Should I be concerned about not feeling any kicks...

Don't worry at all. You're still relatively early. At this point the baby still has plenty of room in there to roll around and move without bumping into too much. I started feeling movement around 20 weeks, but it wouldn't be all the time. Now, at 25 weeks, I do feel movement every day. It still isn't always strong, hard "kicks", but movement nonetheless. It sounds like you're right on schedule. You'll be fine. Chat Icon

Don't worry, I was the same way...I didn't start feeling constant kicks until I was about 24 weeks...
I had asked My doctor at 19 weeks and she said it was still a bit early. I knew he was active throught the sonos.

I just went to my doc yesterday and asked the same thing. she said generally you won't feel anything until 21+ weeks ... especially if it's your first baby b/c we don't really know what we are feeling! i would think your doc would ask you on 2/2 but it won't hurt to ask!
