Kinda wedding realted, but...how did you pick...

your wedding song?

Was it a song that was played during a special time that you and DH were together? Was it a song that 1 of you liked and then you played it for the other? Were you scrambling around last minute before the wedding in need of a song??

ours was Its Your Love by Tim and Faith.

We loved this song anyway, and I loved how it is a husband/wife duet. Not just the man singing about how much he loved his wife or the other way around.

then the spotlight was Crazy Love, that is DH's favorite song.

Ours was Someone Like You...Van Morrison

It was in a movie we were watching together...and we just felt it represented how we felt about each other....

We had a handful of songs that we both loved and couldn't decide between. We didn't have an "Actual song" that was wedding appropriate or that we wanted for our wedding song.

We put all the songs on a cd and would play them in the car.. as we would listen we would scratch some off the list.. get sick of some scratch them off the list etc.

Finally it was down to 3 songs and from listening to the CD so often our son knew all the songs already. Whenever this one song would come on our son would go crazy dancing in his car seat and ask us to play it over and over.

Between him being so cute about it and the more we listened to it the more we loved it so that was it.

"our song" was easy to pick, because we used to play it a lot when we first starting dating, and I can basically say we "fell in love" to in

I think it was on our first date that DH played the "Eagles Live Reunion / Hell Freezes Over" CD for me in his Jeep, and I remember us BOTH commenting simultaneously that we loved the song "Love will Keep us Alive" .. that it was just a pretty song.

From there, it escalated and DH would ALWAYS play the CD when we were together, (specifically that song) and before we actually said I LOVE YOU he told me that the words described exactly how he felt about me and I remember always thinking the same!

So when we got engaged and had to pick a song, this was a no brainer for us

DH & I wanted "It Had to Be You" by Harry Conick Jr. but then as we listened to the words we weren't sure if we wanted it played as a wedding song (there is one part that says "no one can make me feel as blue ... " It's about no matter what, I want you.

So we debated for a long time. I was set on having an OLDER song - something that is classic, time honored and would last forever ...

so one night DH was driving in his mom's car and wa playing her CD's and the song More, by Bobby Darrin was playing. He called me all excited and said listen to this. It was perfect for us!

We kept changing it at the last minute. I didn't really care what it was. I thought I would be more into the music part of the wedding since I'm a musician, but I really wasn't.

It was a song that DH played for me when we first started dating, it was about the way he felt for me. 'Yours' by the Blues Travelers. But when we got enaged, it was a toss up between this song and another song 'Where are you going' by Dave Matthews band.

We ended up using 'Yours'

The recap on our video we used 'Where are you going'

Our wedding song was "Nobody Loves You Like I Do" by Whitney Houston and Jermaine Jackson. DH loved the song and the words described us perfectly!

Well my sister has a really cute one!!! I will share it for her

When she and her boyfriend ( now DH) were dating they went to vegas for vacation. He had family that lived outside of vegas so they went to visit the family first and then rented a car and drove to vegas.

The rental car didn't have a cd player only a tape deck. So my sister had only brought CD's with her and not tapes. There was nothing on the radio and my sister was going crazy so she started searching through the car and foud the soundtrack to the movie armagedon on tape under her seat.

They put the tape in and listened to it but my sister HATED all the songs except for " I don't wanna miss a thing"
They wound up listening to the song OVER AND OVER AND OVER for 2 hours!!!!!
Her boyfriend Joked when we get married we have to use this song now!! ( they werent even close to thinking about marriage)

She had the best time on vacation and had alot of great memories from the trip and after that everytime she heard the song she would think about the road trip to vegas!

So years later they get engaged and started planning the wedding. My sister wound up getting pregnant so they pushed up the wedding and decided to go to the bellagio in vegas. The second my sister mentioned getting married in Vegas they both looked at eachother and cracked up laughing knowing what their wedding song HAD to be!!!

After we got married, "This I Swear" came out (by Nick Lachey) and we both fell in love with that song. We wished that would have been out for our wedding because we would have used it too.

OK, here's why I'm asking...

DH and I didn't have a "wedding"...we went to town hall and were married and then had a party at my mom's, but none of the traditional wedding formalities...and we never had a song while dating.

As stupid as it may sound, I want a song. I want to be able to hear a song on the radio and know that it's our special song, or dance to it at a wedding, etc.

I've picked a few songs that I really liked and thought were appropriate for "us", but DH thinks you can't just pick a song. You have to wait for a special moment and for a song to "hit you". I feel like we'll never have a song if we have to wait for that "perfect moment"

DH and I were deciding between a few songs. "Our" song was always "What a Wonderful World," but we didn't want it for our first dance. We decided on "You're My Home" by Billy Joel b/c it is one of my favorite songs, and DH always said that he was "home" when he was with me.

We had a special moment together while dating when "Always & Forever" by Heatwave was playing so it was always "our song". We didn't even question that it would be our wedding song. BUT... a week before the wedding DH found another song that he loved and played it for me. He said that he kind of felt that our song was played out already for us (which it kind of was) and this song really expressed how he felt so much better and so poetically. All it took was one listen and I said yes - I let him change our wedding song the week before the wedding! We danced to "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack. I still cry everytime I hear it.

Before meeting DH, I must have watched Bridget Jones' Diary a thousand times. And I loved the Van Morrison song at the end ("Someone Exactly Like You") and I am also a big fan of his anyway. When I met DH it just seemed to fit and he liked the song too.

We never really had a "song" - I always think of him when I hear Lenny Kravitz "I belong to you" b/c he went through this Kravitz phase where he'd play the CD OVER and OVER.

However, when it came wedding time I knew what song I wanted.....Valentine by Martina McBride. Its just such a sweet song and I've loved it forever. Plus every Valentine's Day we get to hear it on the radio :)
