Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
Well, we're Jewish so we celebrate Hanukah. DH and I decided to do 8 presents, but I emphasized one big one or two medium ones, and the rest small gifts. I was in law school and didn't have any $.
I got DH a Manhattan Portage bag and a leather bound diary he admired at J. Crew. The rest of the gifts were small, a candle, chocolate, a stress ball, etc...
Well DH didn't listen very well. My first gift was a Kate Spade bag, my second was a cashmere DKNY sweater, the third a HUGE gift set from Origins, the fourth were nice earrings... I told him I coudln't keep up so we decided to have him stop there. It was so sweet- he was SO generous with me!!
We still laugh about it- especially the stress ball I got him.

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
Well, it isn't my first memory, but my engagement ring was in the toe of my stocking on Christmas morning, so that is the best one.
The first one I guess was when he came to my brother's house on Christmas Eve. It is a little crazy over there - Santa comes at midnight and then they open gifts. I figured if he could handle that, he'd stick around.

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
my 1st X-mas w/ dh who was my BF at the time was great. I used to wear a lot of skirts so he got me a cute skirt. He didn't know it at the time but the skirt was kinda short & it had this big slit on the side. When I wore he was like "uhm...that's a short skirt & what's with the slit??" I said "That's the one YOU got me!!!"

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
Well we had a whirlwind romance so on our first Christmas together we had just gotten engaged only 5 days prior
So generally it was all about me flashing around my new and making the announcement to our extended friends and family (my parents and his parents already knew)
Oh yeah and I was already freaking out about planning the wedding on LI in @7 months and I luckily discovered LIWs I think DH signed me up for that site ON Christmas (sad but true!)

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
Our first Christmas memory was actually before we were dating.
We didn't know each other well, but we had a clsoe friend in common & we both went to his apartment early to help him set up for his annual Christams party & the lights were a mess there was lots of swearing & laughing & mock fighting ( and we both left with outher people. . . :hah) I had no idea that the next year we'd be be exchanging our first Christmas gifts.
For our first dating Christams, he was at that time roomates with the freind with the parties & their Christmas tree fell on me during the party.

I met DH for the first time at a chanukah party that mutual friends threw. We had our first kiss as the ball droped in times sq. for that New Years. It was on our first date.

Nice!
But wait ... allow me to get technical here. How exactly is Dec. 4th a "holiday memory?" The 4th is no holiday that I know of
I guess that you start your consummating as early as you do your Christmas song listening

the reason i actually know the date is not very romantic
we went to a wrestling match that night
it was the last MSG show of the 20th century and i bought a T-shirt to commemorate it

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
Our first date was New Years Day 1999. I knew I was going to marry him that night!
Our first christmas together was actually a funny one. He bought me the oddest gifts...a winnie the pooh hat (i dont like winnie the pooh), not one but 2 vests from footlocker (I am not a vest person), a pair of scooby doo slippers (again, not one of my favorites, but its his fave LOL) and a heart pendant (but I wore one every day that my dad had given me 3 years prior)...it was just so weird! LOL
But the christmas holiday after, he proposed! So that made up for EVERYTHING!

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
Xmas 2000! We met the day before Thanksgiving, so we'd been together about a month. I got him a bunch of workout clothes and a fleece, and he got me Tiffany earrings and a Mrs. Claus Vermont teddy bear (who is sitting under our tree now!). It was fun. We then went to a friend's house for a party New Year's Eve and it was so much fun. I read today that romantic love and lust only last a year, so enjoy it!

Re: Share your first holiday memory with SO
I remember going to my wife's mom's place for the first time on Xmas. That was pretty interesting. My wife was actually very nervous about the whole "meeting the mom ordeal"... but i was cool. I love meeting new people.

We were 17 (1994) for our first Christmas together. He gave me a dopey doll and the cranberries cd. He also baked me cookies and decorated them to look like the 7 dwarfs. We had so much fun!
