just to add, i just re-read part of your post and i think part of the problem is the way you look at money. for example, you stated you cc balance is ONLY about 2K. thats a lot of money to me, not a small amount.
see what i'm trying to say is when you think its only $100 or whatever, that is where the problem lies.
Agreed.

I think there are a lot more people in the same boat as you than care to admit.
You are going to get slammed from people no matter what you post. Don't take it to heart.
IMHO, there is NOTHING wrong with wanting nice things once in a while. You work hard for your money and should be able to purchase things that you can appreciate...even if those purchaces seem frivelous to others.
I can also understand anticipating a higher raise than you actually receive. That happened to me two years ago and I was pizzed as well. Even though I appreciate the fact that I have a job that gives raises, when you are set up for something then don't get it, disappointment can outweigh your appreciation. Thankfully I work for a company where I was able to express my disappointment the following year and they made up for it. I don't know how it works for teachers, though.

Don't even let it get to you. Unfortunately a lot of people are quick to judge others and start preaching, but it really only shows their own ignorance. Living in this area is indeed very frustrating at times, especially when you make a very decent combined living and work very hard for it, yet still feel like you have nothing leftover for the occasional treat. There's nothing wrong with venting about that.
I was thinking the same thing :)
