Like many of you, the ex's are out (which makes it tough because there are a LOT on each side!  ). Also, friend's kids, cousins kids, my nephews, our family members - all out! Now, keeping in mind that I am one of 10 grandkids on one side, this makes it a little tough but we are sticking to this (so far!)
One of the names I love for a girl becomes a boy name when you shorten it. DH doesn't like that but I do. I think it is a dorable when little girls have boy names. Yes, I am strange! Well, anyway, DH is all concerned that she will be made fun of in school for having a boy name. I said, so she will use her proper name, not shorten it!
We are stuck on boy names right now (both because of the ex-factor and we don't like any name that start with the letter of the person we would be naming him after).

There are a lot of names I don't like, but the only one's I would never consider are those of ex's:
Benjamin, Jimmy
Veronica, Julie, Joanne
I also don't want any name of someone already in either of our families.

If it were up to me, I would not name my child Frank. I really do not want a Frank IV, but DH does. DH and his sister have the same names as their parents and his other siblings also have the same names as family members. I really don't get that tradition.
I also won't give our kids the same name as exes or people I really dislike.

Anybody else keep on going back to this thread checking for their own name?
So far, my name has gotten one hate mention.

So far, my name has gotten one hate mention.
I keep checking just to see what names people hate. Lots of people hate names I like. There were a few posts where I liked just about every name the poster hated. DH hates most of the names I like too. It will be interesting to see what we finally agree on one day.

I came on here and read the whole thing looking for my name!
Mine was on one NO WAY list, dh's was on one and ds's was on one. My daughter's name so far hasn't been mentioned but her middle name has.

There will be 50 in each class in 5 yrs
Which is so funny to me, my mom is Isabel and growing up she hated having a "different" name and that she couldn't get any personalized items (like pencils) like the rest of the kids in her class.

I totally sympathize. My DH is Frank (Francis) 3rd, and really wants there to be a 4th. I'm not into that, but it's really important to him. If I lose this debate and his name is Francis Joseph 4th, we'll call him Joey.

At least your DH has a normal middle name. I refuse to call our future child by his middle name. My DH's middle name is awful (he doesn't like it either). It was the surname of some family members and also the name of a watch company his family used to own. I told DH we can name our future son Frank if he comes up with something to call him-too confusing to have multiple Franks in one household.

I've been told by MIL that if we have a girl we CANNOT name her Kathleen. That's DH's mom's name and he has 3 Aunt Kathleens (two by marriage). She hates it!! 
For me the names would be Jennifer (Dh's ex - plus there are 50 million of them) and any girly sounding names for boys. I do like unisex names for girls though.

yeah my name has been listed over 3 times already, i didn't think my name was that popular to begin with. I don't have the H though. Theresa..i have Teresa

I'm with you. I love boy's names for girls- Charly, Frankie, etc...
And we're also having a hard time picking boy's names that start with A. We're leaning towards Abram for the middle name.
