Stern Fans: Artie's revelation this morning
WOW - I feel so bad for him! The silence when they were trying to talk to him before they went into the song was deafening!

When Artie was out last year, it was because he was detoxing from Heroin addiction. He just told everyone that he was sick, meanwhile he was detoxing. Dana, his mom and his sister wouldnt let him leave the house while he was in the middle of it. This was just when he started the movie.
Now he keeps a stash of 'detox' drugs and carrys them with him, but he says that he doestn use them regularly. 
It was so bad - Artie was silent, they went to a song and then when they came back you could tell he was crying.
Makes you wonder if the reason Artie and Dana broke up was because of this, and that the ultimateum wasn't therapy.

During and after. During the contest one of the guys spoke about being addicted to heroin and how he wants these pills to help him get off of the drugs. For some reason Artie pulled them out of his pocket and said 'here you go' so they were all shocked. I think they realized this was a big thing so they got everyone out of the room except for the usuals, and then they went to commercials.
Someone mentioned it again when howard was reading a commercial so they started to get into the story - Artie broke down and went silent and started crying. Howard tried to read the commercial but couldnt so they went to music. After music Howard finished reading the commercial and they're talking about it again. You coudl hear the sniffling from him crying. As time passes he sounds better talking about it and gives more details.

I didn't hear this but I feel bad for him too.
I knew there was something more serious going on with him beneath the surface. I was guessing he had a cocaine problem.

I'm kinda torn between feeling bad or not. He's admitted in his mad tv days he was also addicted and that he would never go back to those days. Why subject himself to that again knowing fully well he could lose it all? Then again, he has a self destructive personality and needs help for that.

I totally feel bad for him. He is obviously depressed and is just making the wrong choices. I never expected heroin though....wow. Artie is a really good guy. He's so charitable, always giving people money or letting people stay at his house. I hope he takes the right steps to get this fixed.
As I'm thinking a little more now, and I hate to discredit this revelation, but I have to say that this is pretty bad timing to come out with this when his movie just opened last week. I hope he gets some help for himself.

I agree with this - I knew when he was out on that 'break' last year, there HAD to have been more to it than him just being sick... well he WAS sick, just not what we were led to believe
I didn't hear this either but I feel bad.. I do like Artie a lot

I missed the beginning of that this morning- I am listening to the replay now so I can hear the whole thing.
I feel bad for Artie- even with his success he has trouble handling his demons.
I feel worse for his mom, sis and Dana.
