It's totally possible. but if that WERE true, that she's trying to capitalize on it, in this fashion, then shame on her. why not do something more PRODUCTIVE?? - like becoming a doctor, saving lives. or dedicating herself to the fight against terrorism. she'd impress me a heck of alot more as a 'fellow' american if she did any of these things....instead she's looking to become a famous reality tv star??? sorry....it makes my stomach turn.
the ONLY thing *I* would be able to associate with this woman is the fact that she's related to the most heinous person to walk the face of the earth. forgive me if i can't see past that fact. jmo

My point exactly. She is not using the name or her notoriety to help victims of the terrorist attacks or stand against terrorism or help anyone but herself. She's using it so she can pose for suggestive pictures and try to become a star

People dont do what she does. It's reprehensible. You never saw someone with the last name Hitler try to get rich on that - why? Because if that was your last name - you would have changed it faster than the ink could dry on the name change form.

since you're the only one who answered...i'll ask you this:
can you HONESTLY say, that it would NOT bother you in the least bit to see this woman become successful (NOT) as a tv personality - knowing that success was only possible because of her name and her relation to bin laden?

Yes, as a matter of fact I lost several people that day.
Last time I checked this girl was not the mastermind behind that horrible day. It was a relative that she has never even met. I refuse to judge her based solely on her being related to a sinister man.

I believe this girl was trying to make it into the entertainment industry for many many years, if anything, for the last few years her name has worked against her.
I listened to her sing once on Barbara Walters and htought she had a really good voice, especially since she was put on the spot and made to sing acapella.
I 100% understand the stance against her and this show. I really do.
There is just a part of me that won't completly discredit her because it feels soooo discriminitory to me.

Dufour has dropped the "Bin Ladin" -- a different spelling of the Arabic name from that used by Osama bin Laden -- and now goes by the name Wafah Dufour.

but honestly...i see what you are saying but this world was effected sooo greatly by that man.
If she wanted nothing to do with him, is outraged herself and just want to be an aspiring musician/actress
WHY use the name to get there?
Seems sickening to me...
AND for using the name to get into the public eye....for that i DO JUDGE HER
ETA...even if the "name" was changed...she is still capitalizing on it

I realize she has dropped it now - but she has certainly used it in the past and made sure that she was known and why she was known before she dropped it.

ditto. I can't dicriminate based on her family. Because my family is not the most normal, I would not want my chances to advance myself in this country to diminish because of the stupidity of my brother, and a couple of uncles I have.

Not a better woman at all. I just sometimes stupidly believe in giving people a chance.
It would be great if she wanted to dedicate herself to something more productive (although, the arts is a noble pursuit ). Who knows what she might do if she actually has talent and makes $$$$ from it. She could be the next Bono.

the people like tha GG or the Hiltons who do it
And the nameles people that use nothing but who they are or their talents
