Bathtub question for bigger babies

Alex is kind of big (close to 18lbs, and god knows how long, but let's just say she's too long to fit into 9 month clothing! Chat Icon ). She's starting to outgrow the bathtub we bought her, so now what do we use? Get a larger bathtub, or is it time to transition her into the real tub? Is there anything you recommend we use in the real tub so she doesn't slip all over the place?

This is the tub we have that she's outgrowing...

I bring her in the tub with me pretty often then I pass her off to DH to dress her for bed and I fill up the tub with hot water and bubbles and soak. Chat Icon

I was just talking with my SIL about this. I have the same tub as you and it's getting really hard to bathe him in there. She has a 10 month old and she told me about an inflatable tub that goes right into the regular tub. It sounded perfect. I have to see if I can get a link from her. I *think* she said she got it at Target.

Really shes out growing that bathtub?? Its an infant to toddler bathtub, and I just got it for Julia like a few weeks ago cause she was out growing her infant one. Julia is 18lbs 27inches. Did u use both side of the tub? One side is the infant and the other is the toddler side.

We have the inflatable tub - it fits right in your tub or you could even use it on the counter. Jesse loves it (he doesn't like the regular tub). Everyone sells them - BRU, BBB, etc.

Yup, she'll only fit in it for a couple more weeks I think. We used both sides and with both sides her legs are just too long. She loves to kick and splash and now she's banging onto the edge when she starts kicking Chat Icon

Isn't a pain though to inflate all the time? Or do you keep it permanently inflated?

Jake is 20 lbs, 28 1/2 inches at 7 mos and he's been on the toddler side for awhile now. It's just not roomy enough. I can't imagine how a toddler could fit in there.

That euro bath looks good...

I'm not sure, but I know that at our last appointment which was 6 weeks ago, she was about 27 inches... she's already bigger and longer than all the other babies at daycare and all of them are at least 2-3 months older than she is! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We have the same inflatable tub and Andrew used it in the big tub from about 8 months until he was 20 months. Worth it IMO! I inflated it once, then just hung it on the side of the tub to dry each time we finished with it (it has a suction cup attached to it for this). Since we have a separate shower for him, it was not a problem just keeping it inflated in the tub for him.

I just got a similar one by Safety First, but haven't used it yet. Can they easily get at toys floating in the tub? Or does she just play with the things on the front of the seat?

I just moved my 6 month old into a bath seat for the kitchen sink. We had the same tub you have and he outgrew it as well (he's almost 20 pounds and 28").Chat Icon

Since he sits unassisted now, the seat works great (it has suction cups on the bottom and stays in place really well). I used this for my 1st until about 9 months then we had to move into the inflatable tub (which is awesome, BTW!). We'll do the same for the baby when he's ready.

We had the same tub for Andrew initially and when he outgrew it we switched to the inflatable one. Like Trish, we just leave it inflated and leave it to the side (we can't use the suction hook) when not using it.

It gives her room to move... it's nice because it unclips to get her in and out easily.... I let her roam free in the tub, but her brother ends up in the tub with her most of the time and he makes a wave poolChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have the same one for Jared. He outgrew that blue tub too even when I turned it around for the toddler side...His long legs kept kicking the edges, so I decided to get that from BRU.. It's only 19.99.

Re: Bathtub question for bigger babies

I have the same tub as you Beth. I still use the sling because it is easier to wash her. I tired taking out the sling and she keeps sliding down. I am a bit scared to put her in the big tub in that seat...plus I have that yucky anit skid stuff on the bottom of my tub and it is rough for her little butt
