Re: She Has Arrived (TBAF)

I think there is too much emphasis on bfps on holidays, birthdays, anniversaries ....

Personally I don't care if I have to tell my dh we are pregnant on April 1st.

I don't think we should put dates on our pregnancies it just adds more pressure. I know a girl who did that. I worked with her mom...and every cycle I heard...oh it would be nice to tell my mother on her birthday , or dh's birthday or uncle harry's anniversary etc

I think we lose sight of the whole thing, this is not about when we tell someone or how we tell someone it's about having a beautiful healthy baby to love...

I am so sorry about AF :( I hope it's the last of her...!! Much baby dust to you in your next cycle ! ....

Dawn - First of all - I am so sorry TBAF showed up.
Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Second - regarding your post Michelle:
I guess it's easier for you to not wish for a "special" holiday memory to want for your BFP. It's great to help others with advice and knowledge - but I don't think it's fair to always push your "personally" opinions onto everyone. I think we all know wishing and wanting so much can add pressure, you're not telling us anything new.

Am I losing sight of wanting to give birth to a a precious child to love because I hoped to give my husband his final xmas gift and had it been a positive pregnancy test? Am I also losing sight because now I hope to give him a BFP for our 1st anniversary?

No I am not. I am wishing and hoping. I couldn't care less what day of the week or year I find out I am pregnant if I ever do again. But I'd love it to have a special way to tell DH.

Re: She Has Arrived (TBAF)

I see Michelle's point- At first I was wrapped up with my fantasy of getting a BFP on new years because it was when we got engaged. But now, that i'm not even ovulating this month, I don't care anymore. I just want to know that my body is working as it should so that I can eventually get a BFP - no matter when. It's totally natural though to want to have a special way of telling DH and friends, but an ordinary day will become the MOST special when you have a BFP!! It will be BETTER than Christmas or New Year's! Chat Icon

ETA: but yes, when new year's eve comes with no BFP, I will feel particularly sad because I had that little fantasy Chat Icon

Honestly, I don't push views on anyone. How is anything easier on me ??? Nothing about this is easy. I am trying my best to cope with the biggest challenge of my life... and the way I do that is to help others.

When you find out you are pregnant, it's the most wonderful feeling in the world and I don't think a holiday can make it feel any greater, but again that's my opinion, I am not telling anyone to agree with it.

I think putting pressure on ourselves to achieve pregnancy by a certain date can leave us feeling like we failed to reach a goal, when in essence the goal is to become a mother and our dh's fathers, at least that's my goal.

I am not even wanting a single present this year, because of course the only xmas gift that I would value is a healthy pregnancy....and my dh the same. However, if I can't give that to him, I don't want to feel like I let him down. It just adds to the sorrow and grief.

I am sorry if I offend people with my posts, and I will no longer be a part of the ttc board....if that is the case. This is a support board, and I was lending my support, and giving advice from a 2 year perspective.

You don't have to agree with anything I say, but to respond to me insensitively, I find to be disheartening. Some people forget, that I may be the one to come to, when they are in a bind...but I am also here with my own struggle.

Dawn, I am very sorry, your post was turned into this. That was not my intention. You are a kind and warm hearted soul, that is very eager to be a mother, and hopefully, your bfp will happen next cycle !

I dont think Michelle was pushing her views on ANYONE!!!!! That comment makes me so madChat Icon
I agree, it does make it more special for a BFP around a holiday, but that was NOT her point.
I wanted to have a child at the end of my school year and unfortuantely didnt work out.
I would LOVE to tell people on Xmas that I was PG, but It wont happen this time, so when it happens it will happen.
Michelle has been nothing but helpful and so caring and listened to my Fm's when I had my M/c.

I agree entirely. Michelle is one of the most supportive women on this board. I really and truly don't think she was trying to push her views here- just trying to be helpful.

Michelle if you leave i leave, there is no point being on the boards when you answer all of our questions. I especially look at your responses to other girls because I value your insight. Don't let one person's comments make you leave.
