I think he is dreaming of what his life would be if he was just "normal" Tony Soprano.

Thats what my DH thought- how his life would be if he chose a different career path...

Re: Ok so does someone wanna explain (Sopranos)

i see alot of metaphoric things between the dream & Tony's coma state & real life

ie:

In dream he looks outside, its dark
real life - he in coma

in dream dr. said he could have died
in life he is close to death

i agree its a strange episodeChat Icon ,but next week the bodies witll start to fall as the family starts to jock for top position

Great acting by Carmella & AJ this week

I called it last week! I knew they would have him in a coma for a few episodes to see what roles everyone assumes should he be gone

I pretty much agree with all of you. He was having an "out of body" Scrooge-like experience, and seeing what his life would be like. If anyone noticed, not only were all his families voices different, but so was HIS as well (no Italian accent).

It WOULD be hot if Meadow became top boss... then again, I heard that AJ will plan on getting into the business this season - with him flunking out of school, and wanting to get Jr back, it makes sense.

And speaking of Junior.... does anyone think that he faked delusion to kill Tony purposely? I don't know why, but I'm not buying his insanity for some reason.

Re: Ok so does someone wanna explain (Sopranos)

DH and I believe that since he's in acoma he is dreaming of what his life would be like with out the mob, becuase he keeps seeing lights like the helicopter and at one pint you see a doctor shining lights in his face then he's looking up the helicopter. but this is just what we think.

dh thinks AJ is going to join the group now, and kill off junior and this is how he gets in since tony isn ot awake to stop him from joining since tony never wanted him to.

No, Junior has Alzheimers, he has strange episodes all the time. Remember when he took off to the old neighborhood in his bathrobe and pj's.

I wonder about that too. Sometimes Junior seems lucid, like when speaking to his attorney and the detective last night. I think we're supposed to wonder, but really, Alzheimer's is that way, kind of in and out.

I thought that Junior no longer has a beef with Tony, or does he? Is he holding a grudge, or is he upset about how the family is being run? I can't remember how the last couple of season played out re: those two.

Was anyone else a little distracted by "American Girl" playing in the background when Carmela was talking to Tony? I found it hard to focus on her, the music was kind of annoying (maybe too loud?) even though I like the song.

Re: Ok so does someone wanna explain (Sopranos)

See I saw the episode as in Tony is in purgatory and so was the guy Kevin, and Tony was suppose to die but Kevin died because they switched identities by accident and got mixed up because Tony took Kevin's identity, and now he has to fight and find his way out of purgatory. Because at one point that women that Tony was kissing said to him that they are looking for someone that had escaped(Meaning Tony). I also think it has a little of the what my life would have been like without the Mob, and if you think about it he would never had been with Carmella if it was not for the mob he probably would have married someone else.

DH and I were thinking along these lines as well...that he was in Limbo.
And you are right...he would not have married Carmela if he wasn't in the Mob...because if you remember a few seasons back she talked about what attracted her to Tony...and it was his bad boy image. Comma Tony is no bad boy.

I was thinking the same thing about the purgatory and "switching places" with Kevin----expecially when Carmella started talking to him about going to hell. I think part of this dreaming/purgatory state had him pondering his life as a "normal" person-not boss of a crime family. I didn't get the impression that the wife was Carmella-totally didn't sound like her.

On a side note, Finnerty is my maiden name --my Dad called to see if we were watching right in the middle of the scene with him and the other woman!

Re: Ok so does someone wanna explain (Sopranos)

I think that he is going to come through it but with the clips from next weeks episode I have a feeling the family is going to crumble to pieces and start whacking each other to fight for the top spot, it really shows how he held most of the family together.

Re: Ok so does someone wanna explain (Sopranos)

I don't think that they will kill off Tony, at least not this early in the season since it was his fault as to why they too so long to start filming. He was holding out for more money, why would they pay him so much more then what they wanted to just to kill him off so soon.

Since I don't really know that much about medical situations I have to ask, why would the doctors operate on Tony and yet leave a gaping hole in his stomach? What could be the reason for this?
