As a teacher, my list of names I will not name my children is growing.

One of them is Michael.

Oh, I know!!!!!!!! It's amazing how one kid can turn you off to a name! I used to love the name Jacob. Noooo more!

Speaking of teachers, have any of you noticed that students named Jesus or Angel are quite frequently students that you have behavior problems with? GO figure!

I have to admit, I like some of the trendier names. I'm opposed to naming my child anything too boring. I know ten million Mikes, Anthonys and Johns- it's ridiculous.

I love Seamus Patrick (Seamus is Gaelic for James which is my Dad's name), DH hates it he loves Kathleen, I hate that. We're both Irish, so our kids will wind up with Irish names, just not those .

I actually don't know any children named John, and there is only one in my family. It's one of my favorite names.

On the do-not-name list:

Kayla, Kaylee, etc. all the derivations - just have met too many little ones with that name or very similar

Jesse - old boyfriend
Dan - ditto

DH's only serious GF before me has a nice name, and I have nothing against her, but I guess it would still be weird: Kerry

I wouldn't name my children any old fashioned names - Matilda, Harold, etc.

As someone who's had to spell her name out to people her entire life, I wouldn't give my children any names and use a unique spelling (like Karyn for Karen)

Although I don't like a lot of the very trendy names (Madison, Connor, Kaylee, etc), I can't imagine giving my children regular "boring" names either - no Steven, Brian, Michael, Lisa, etc.

Names that I don't like for specific or people reasons:

Nicole, Tammy (DH's exes)
Gina, Marie, Ann

I love Samantha but it reminds DH of someone he dislikes, so that's out.

We've sort of agreed for time being on Jordan for a boy and Olivia for a girl.

I have terrible name association since I'm a teacher. I have around 130 kids a year, so many are OUT! It's really too bad!

Basically the name of any ex is out for obvious reasons as well as the names of any biat ches that I have dealt with in my life.

I also am not fond of any of the trendy names.

Our last name is very long and very Italian so we have to be careful about the first names we choose - we are most likely naming our children after close family members who are no longer with us.

We did not want anything too trendy or popular where there will be like 5 in a class with that name. Like names in the top 10 or even top 20 lists.

We did not want anything spelled too odd. People do that to look or be different but it turns out the child gets it misspelled or mispronounced for the rest of their life.

We did not like anything that sounded cutesy when she is young then sounds silly when she is a women.

I could never name my kid John. I think there is just to many of them. My husband being one of them If your Irish you will find a John in EVERY family.

Tracy, Dh's name is John also and wanted that name for Ryan. I am not a fan of naming the son after the father so we didnt do it. His Irish family has many JOhns, including my FIL. That is so funny!

Any of our ex's, which stinks because I love the name Seth but it's just NOT an option.

Nothing with Lily or Rose, my cousin had a stillborn baby that they had chosen this name for

No Veronica or Bianca - they sounds like b!tches to me

DH HATES any girls name that ends in "ia", which stinks because Olivia is just about my favorite name ever. He thinks it sounds like a disease, "You know, like gonorrhea." I'm still working on this but how do you reason with such idiocy??
