Do you love living on LI?

Do you love it here or do you stick it out for work, family etc?

DH and I were talking about it on our way back from upstate last night. He was talking about all the negatives and wishes we could raise our kids where he was, in the sticks, he thinks they would turn out better

I chose OTHER b.c I do love living here on Long Island but it is extreamly hard living here!!!

As much as I complain about how expensive it is, I just love NY and I cant imagine being anywhere else. I think the changing seasons, and the locality of everything will always keep me here.

ETP - My entire immediate family has moved to florida, so I'm the only one left.

I grew up on LI and lived there until 1999 it was hard for me to make the decision to move, but now that I have I couldn't imagine living on LI again. I didn't go far (NJ), and prefer this side of the river so much more. JMHO!

I chose other because I do love living on LI, but would probably move elsewhere if it wasn't for my family, friends on LI , and our jobs being in NYC.

We are here bc my DH's job is here...We were able to purchase a home but whenever we are OOT, we always say how much nicer it would be...We also have family here

I love living on LI but DH and I are thinking about moving to GA or Cary, NC in another year or so when we have our child hopefully.

Would love to move out of state. I feel Long Island is getting crowded, although I like it, I would like to move.

Hate it, but DH refuses to move even an hour away from his family. Drives me nuts!

We are already gone, but we didn't go far. I liked the idea of living in a smaller town with a more rural setting, and I wanted to see what it was like to live somewhere other than LI. I don't miss the traffic and the fact that LI seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Though I do miss the proximity to my friends and family and the beach.

I love living on LI and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. This is my home thru and thru.

I chose 'Stay for family'. Although I was born on LI, I grew up in CT and would move back in an instant if it wasn't for DH. He grew up on LI and doesn't have any desire to leave. Most of my family is on LI, except for my mom who is still in CT (plus my friends).

I absolutely loved where I grew up. I never would have thought, that I would live anywhere else. My entire family is here. But, besides not being able to afford anything, town has changed drastically! It's not the same quaint place, it's overloaded with horrendous tourists and second home owners. I just don't like it anmore.

It looks like we are going to be headed towards CT.

Out of curiosity...where upstate?

We have the opportunity to live in a great house, huge property upstate, but DH & I prefer to raise our kids here.
I was born and raised upstate and well...I moved here to get a better life. Go figure.

Having a big house doesn't make for a better life.
Those that I know that stayed got pregnant VERY early or are addicted to drugs & alcohol. Sure...it can easily happen here, but honestly...the reason "they" did it was there was NOTHING to do up there.

He grew up around the Cortland Area. I know a lot of DH's friends, in their early 30s, all they do is hunt and drink because there is nothing to do there.

DH wants to move, I don't. While I would love to have a bigger house with more property, I love being near everything, and my friends and family.

Right now, I can't imagine isolating myself from everyone just to have a bigger home.....

I'm not sure. My family is here and I can't imagine moving away from them but I'm not sure we can afford to live here. I want to buy a home but also don't want to be struggling every month to pay the bills.

I'd consider moving someone not too far away...now just have to figure out where.

I love it here.
I lived upstate for a while and enjoyed it - but never felt completely comfortable. On Long Island, I feel like I belong.

I like it here- but we are only here b/c of DH job

he could make the same money elsewhere but he would have to start over and we don't want to take the chance- he has way to many conections here to just pack up and leave

all of my family is gone and his- so there is really nothing other then $$$ keeping us here
