Kirby Puckett died
Baseball Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett died Monday age 44 after suffering a stroke at his Arizona home, a hospital spokeswoman says.

wow - last night they announced that he had a stroke...but they said he was stable in the hospital.
Poor guy.

I heard this morning he had a stroke. He had diabetes and those with it are at a higher risk for stroke.
Also, the younger a person is when they have a stroke the more devistating the stroke usually is and the more often it is fatal. Most people in their 20's and 30's die instantly. I hope he did not suffer greatly.
Unfortunately, I know all too well about strokes as my father had a very severe one when he was 57.

What a shame and how sad...
I never followed his career but I have heard of him because DH told me about him and how good he was and that he was a hall of famer...etc etc. etc. It's such a shame to die so young.

I just made a post on the Home board. Didn't see this here.
I was a big fan of his back in the early 90s. Great ballplayer. Great guy IMO.
He was a 1st ballot Hall Of Famer... inducted in 2001.
