What fun things do you have at your office to get everyone motivated

I got my 3rd strand of beads today for doing a good job.

My boss has carnival beads and everytime you do something above and beyond she sends an email out to the entire group and gives you beads. The more beads you get the better the reward (gift certificate, cash bonus, dinner out, days off, etc...)

Today she sent out an email saying how I was the only person who called back every message given to me and I have made notes in the system even if I left them a message.

I wore my beads all day and did the happy bead dance.

Majority of the group has either 1 or 2 strands (we just started the beads 2 weeks ago)

What does your office do to encourage you, or motivate you to do a good job?

LOL! "above and beyond" is our motto at work..that made me laugh...

I got 2 blockbuster gift cards today for a compliment letter and call I got for helping customers...

We also have Wheel of Fortune, its a huge wheel that looks like the wheel of Fortune one, and we get"spins" when we go above and beyond and win like a 1/2 hour off, an extra hour to lunch...Its cute..I like getting spins..

We also get food if we meet our weekly customer satisfaction goals....and we get a monthly breakfest for thanks ...

we used to get coupons we could turn in for movie tickets and stuff.

wow thats so nice! i love when companies go out of their way to make u feel motivated and appreciated. where do u guys work?

Well, I work in a library, so there aren't too many perks that come from administration, so my tiny staff makes it fun ourselves. We celebrate each others birthdays, do a Secret Santa at Christmas, and other times, we just get a big hero sandwich "just because".

My old job in College Administration? Pretty much NOTHING - which is why I was miserable at the end and everyone who is still there is completely miserable!!!

Wow, I work in INsurance,a nd if we get a bind request for over 20,000.00 we get a dress down day

Also, any time a bind comes in,, we shake maracas...everyone has one at their desk!

We give out 1-800-gift-certificates to people who we feel go above and beyond. They are in $25 denominations.
We also but $5 and $10 gift cards to starbucks and blockbuster for thanks you's too.

actually, a few weeks ago, i got movie tickets in the mail as a 'Thank you' for being part of a great team (everyone who works for the system got them though, i think)

my supervisors are Awesome though- thats more than enough motivation for me. i really think that that makes ALL the difference in your quality of happiness at work

ETA: i forgot.. we have a social once a month- ice cream or heros.. that kind of stuff.

OH and the friday before teh 4th of july, i didnt have to wear Hoisery (i Hate socks and stockings)

That's so cool. I think things like that are invaluable. When I was intenring at college board last summer they had all kinds of stuff, a summer picnic, and on certain days we'd get free lunch of breakfast, like bagels and coffee or pizza, salad and soda. I loved that. it just made the work days go by so much quicker and formed a sense of community.

Saturday's it's a booking supervisor, a booking agent and myself. When the booking agent gets mad at the supervisor about something ridiculous she starts singing the national anthem of India (where the supervisor is from) and calls him a jingle-a-la-la. Which has absolutly no meaning but she gets a real kick out of calling him that.

We have such a blast in my office

Nothing! The morale at my job is really low right now. They keep laying off people and you have to pick up the slack. That's your reward!

if our dept makes our number for the quarter we get a free luncheon. not bad. when we have the luncheon the director ususally goes over the numbers so we see where we stand as a company. to me, its nice to be kept in the loop. and my dept does bagels on birthdays and showers for weddings, fun stuff like that

They offer us alot of B**LS**T. Because everything that comes out of there mouth is just that.

the company DH used to work for had the kooky old statue thingy that the last company in the office left behind. any time someone did something silly, but stupid, they were called into a company wide meeting (50 employees) and given the statue while everyone was told what dumb thing you did. as I write this it sounds mean, but it was really quite funny! this is the same company that called in a midget stripper with a heart condition to celebrate an account manager's birthday!

in my school we don't do much beyond the typical birthday lunches and breakfasts. my last school used to make up songs to familiar tunes whenever someone retired, had a baby, etc.

Wow...my job s u c k s ....we do nothing fun - ever. Not only that, but I got a *talking to* b/c I was laughing at my desk one day and it was construed as *unprofessional*
