Our house was robbed today!!!
Apparently in broad daylight. Someone must of kicked in our side door and got in. The whole thing is messed up. So much for a deadbolt and a door handle lock.  Luckily my dogs weren't hurt and no one was at home... I'm grateful for that. One of my dogs was locked in my son's bedroom and the other one was running around. They're not much of watch dogs I guess. I'm sure they would be if we were home at the time.
Unfortunately, they stole my DH's Premium XBox 360 that he stood in line for 11 hours for and his accessories, also they took his original XBox and 15-20 games and accessories for that. They also got my mom's digital camera and memory card. There were still pictures in it too. So far that's all that we can see that they took. They messed up the whole house looking for valuables. I don't have any though.
My poor DH is soooo upset. He's upset for our safety of course, but also because of the XBox. The one time we got some extra money and this is what happens. He's been waiting for it for a LONG time. It was his B-day/Xmas present.
I can't believe there were strangers in our house. How can I sleep now??? I'm also home with my son alone most nights until late. I'm so scared. Now I have to worry about this and my surgery on top of it. Just when we thought things were getting better.  We had the police here earlier. Of course there's nothing they can do. I already asked the neighbors and nobody was home. Figures! This was my biggest fear moving to this town. We live in a nice older neighborhood, but the town itself stinks. I'm so nervous now.

How horrible, and what a terrible violation. I am so sorry Change all the locks ASAP. Would you consider getting an alarm system? It might make you feel a little more secure.

Oh no Melissa, I am SO sorry to hear this news.. 
I know that the items can be replaced but the feelings of people invading your home will stay with you for some time

I am so so sorry this happened to your family!! I can't even imagine how you are feeling right now. Thank goodness you are all ok!!! I know it's expensive, but I woud probably get an alarm system - even if you need to borrow money from family right now to do it!!

im glad ur dogs werent in-
my friends house was robbed a long time ago n her poor dog was maced
i wass sooooo upset for HER dog
n she has a big german sheperd
so im glad ur dogs werent there!

I am so sorry!!! That is a horrible feeling.
But I have to wonder, did you DH tell a lot of people he had the Xbox? Maybe a younger kid? If it were an inside job, I would feel a little safer.
I am so glad you guys weren't home and that your dogs are okay.

I have a friend that goes to college at Syracuse University- he called me today. He lives in an apt off campus in a building that is mostly inhabited by college students. MOST college kids head home the weekend of Thanksgiving, and the thieves know that. 80% of the apts in his building were robbed in ONE DAY this weekend. They hit every apt, but the thieves skipped over the bottom 2 floors. No one really knows why, but it could be because they couldn't CARRY what they stole!
Xboxs, DVD players, iPods, jewelry, EVERYTHING.
So sad.
