Sorry it took so long to cross over
I was on LIW, same name.... I was married on December 30th, 2005. For those who do not already know, my DH passed away on June 19th... I am hoping to still find support here... since I am dealing with all the family issues (in-laws) with out the support of a DH

Just to give a brief background....
My late DH had Crohn's disease for 16 years. He was always sick, however right before we got married it got progressively worse. We came home from our honeymoon with the thought that he was going to have correctuve surgery, but for some reason it ddnt happen until march. In the meantime he was on high dose steroids so try and correct the problem. When the did the surgery they found out that it would have never corrected with medications for it was scar tissue. However, due to the treatments his bones had wasted away to that of a 97 year old woman. He had 6 broken vertebrae and and 14 broken ribs. He spent alot of time in pain, with the last three before his last hospitalization spent on my couch cause he couldnt walk without a walker and me cleaning his camode. He was on 29 different meds trying to ease the nerve pain he had instilled from the broken bones... The meds also had wiped out his immune system and so he had gotten pneumonia and I didnt know it. By the time he realized it he couldnt even move.... When I took him to the hospital they were not very optomistic. He was in a normal room for 4 days and ended up in icu on June 4th, by 1pm he was on a ventilator. That was the last time I spoke to him. He passed away of Acute Respiratory DIstress Syndrome (ARDS) and Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus (MRSA) related sepsis on June 19th.... It was the hardest day of my life for I made the decission to stop the treatments. In total from July 1st till he passed away he was in the hospital for 200 days. From the day we were married he was home 40.
NOW for the kicker... my family is not speaking to me... not his, MINE......
They told me I mourn wrong cause I rely on his friends and my friends for support. I hugged one of them first when the pronaounced him... and it has been downhill since.... I essentially hae no family anymore....
So, now that you have heard my depressed story.... thank you in advance for the support

we're alll here for u his friends lost someone as well...a kind friend. remeber, everyone grieves in there own way. i hope your family will come around

Alex, I'm so very sorry for everything you've gone through. I remember you having problems with your inlaws right before the wedding..., but now with everything you've gone through I can't believe your own family is giving you such a hard time.
I hope and pray that they come to their senses and realize you need support right now. If you need anything please FM me.

Alex,
Welcome and I am sooooo sorry for your loss.
10 years ago I lost my fiance of 5 years to complications from MS. After caring for him at home with no outside help for a year he went in and out of the hospital many times. He died on 8/15/96 and friom 1/1/96 until thtday he only spent 6 days at home. I was his health care proxy & had to make the decision not to put him on life support. At the same time I was raising my 14 year old daughter. That was one of the hardest time of my life.
I know how difficult it must have been for you and I am sorry you had to go through it but your family has no right to judge you or tell you that you grieved wrong. There is no such thing!!!! Everyone grieves in their own way. There is no RIGHT OR WRONG!
