We had a beautiful little girl!
First, I have to extend my warmest and deepest thanks to all the girls on here... your help, advice and words of encouragement from TTC to miscarriage, to the final delivery were invaluable and so deeply appreciated, I can't even begin to explain...
Now to the good stuff! Alexandra XXXXX was born on September 24, 2005 at 8:03pm. She's a tiny little thing, weighing in at 6lbs, 1 ounce!  Though she's incredibly long with the skinniest, longest little fingers and toes 
I woke up Saturday AM with some fierce, regular contractions... I waited around for an hour (typed on LIF  ) and then woke up hubby. The contractions then kicked in double time, hitting every 2-3 minutes. I called the Dr. who told me to come in! We arrived at the hospital at 7am and they did an internal - only 3cm, but 90% effaced, so they sent me a-walking the halls for a good 2 hours. OMG, the contractions were INSANELY painful, especially because I was getting back labor because Alex was posterior. I came back and progressed to 4cm, so they admitted me and carted me over to the delivery room. I labored on my own without medication for a whopping total of 9 hours (for those girls who make it through the whole endeavor without meds, my god, my hats off to you!). Finally I broke down sobbing, begging for the epidural. They hooked me up but the second they did so, little Alex's heartbeat dropped so fast that all the doctors came running into the room and they hooked me up to oxygen - SCARY. They got her heartbeat back up and then tried to give me some pitocin because in the 9 hours I labored on my own, NO PROGRESS! Again, once they hooked in the pitocin her heartrate dropped so quickly so they stopped it immediately and let me labor on my own for another 6 hours... they kept checking and NO PROGRESS.
After 15 hours of no progress and heavy, intense labor, my doctor said it was endangering my health and the baby's health and suggested a C-section. I agreed, and they carted me off! Never in a million years did I think I would end up in a C-section (I have the biggest, best birthing hips girls, trust me on this!), so I was scared to death, but the doctors were so incredibly nice and comforting.
30 minutes in surgery and out she came! The doctors were SHOCKED. They thought she would be huge because of all the trouble I was having, but she was tiny!!
Recovery has been difficult, and we just got home from the hospital after a 4 day stay, though I couldn't say enough about how wonderful the staff and facilities were. It was really more like a hotel than a hospital.
Now we're enjoying Alex thoroughly... she's the most adorable angel in the world and I feel so incredibly lucky to be blessed with such a perfect baby. She latched onto nursing like a charm, and last night she slept through the night but for ONE feeding! She never cries and rarely fusses.... we're just so lucky
