Me and my siblings skipped the toddler bed - and went straight into our own twin bed.
I don't see anything wrong with that.

I skipped the toddler bed with my son. Its fine, esp if you need the crib mattress, which I did, and do not want to go and get another mattress as well. My daughter is in a toddler bed now though and they are so darn cute. But only b/c I got a great deal on a toddler bed and mattress otherwise I probably would have gone straight to a twin with her as well.
