We're pretty bad. We don't send holiday cards, but I'm sure we will once we have kids.
We only got about 10 or so.

we have every year in the past, but we just didnt have anytime this year.
i never even thought of counting them, but i REALLY never thought of taking someone off 'the list' because they didnt send one back. to me, that kind of seems counter prudcitve to the whole 'holiday spirit' thing

I disagree - but maybe that is because in general the people who get booted off my list tend to be people who we really haven't been keeping in touch with anymore - like, there are a lot of friends who I want to hear from from year to year, even if it's only at Christmas, but when it gets to the point that we NEVER hear from them including X-mas, well, what's the point in that? Kind of like friends just losing touch.
And it's not, for us anyway, generally just 1 year they forget and their off, I usually keep them there for a while until it just starts to seem like they just don't care to hear from us.
Anyway, I just wanted to explain that so I don't sound like I'm a spiteful person.
And, I don't actually count - basically I just know based on how many we send.

i completely understand- i've taken people off the christmas card list because we didnt keep in touch with anymore- i look at that as being much different than "they didnt send us one, so we're not sending them one anymore".
and i've always counted how many i send because i needed to know how many stamps we needed- but i never thought to count how many we got or compare. thats what i was trying to say

Not nearly. I only send about 40, but if we get 10, that's a lot. It's probably mostly because FH's family is Jewish, and I think, at least for them, sending Hanukkah cards is not really a big tradition. My mom still gets a lot of christmas cards with my name on them even though I've been sending out my own cards for years.

I've never thought to count but we probably sent out more than we received by about 10. I'm not expecting my old neighbors to send out cards, but since I know they like receiving cards I still send to them just so they know I'm thinking about them.

I do not usually count but i doubt i got the smae amount as i sent out, i already had one person tell methank you for the crad but we aren't doing cards this year, i thought that was really rude of tehm so i think next year i will cut down on cards.
