I was just reading this and although I did not read the post you are reffering to, I can totally understand what u mean by advice given when their is no experience. Though I am sure the person was trying to be helpful...sometimes it just doesnt work. I went to a wedding where a girl came up and told me everything I was experiencing through my pregnacy bc she said her sister was pregnant and it was like she was pregnant. She went on and on and to be honest...it wasnt all that helpful. I will be here (on this board) in about 6 weeks so expect LOTS of questions

That's why I have to confess... I get annoyed when people who aren't pregnant or parents post trying to give advice on this board. You just don't understand! Its not something mean, I didn't either until I became a mom. Its just a whole other world.
I feel the same way. This is aside from the "my neice had the same thing, my sister tried..." posts. They don't bother me. It's the "when I'm a parent, I'm going to....x,y & z" ones that annoy me. I may have thought that way, but am glad I never said anything.
I still remember the guy on the train comparing his dog to my son. His wife was pregnant at the time. I said "I know you think of your dog as a child, but I can tell you if your dog harms your baby, you can say good bye to him as you drop him off at someone else's house." He also compared training his dog to an unruly chld. Now I try not to smirk as I hear his stories of his kid throwing himself on the floor. I have to bite my lip so I don't say "So why don't you just say "Bad boy!" in a firm voice or try giving him a treat."
I personally do not have any kids yet but my coworker is always trying to compare her dog to another coworkers 3 sons. I may not have kids yet but I realize how ridiculous she is. She even went so far as to say that her dog creates as much laundry as three boys ages 5,6 & 12
This is my pet peeve.... I hate when people equate having a dog/cat to having kids. I know people love their pets, but they are NOT people and the experience will never be the same.

I agree! When I was pregnant with Jack , my dog obsessed inlaws would say to my dog "Ranger, you are going to have a brother." W T F? I'm not giving birth to a litter of puppies! Insane!
